Just to be clear, we're talking FACTORY options in this thread, not aftermarket upgrades, right??  :shruggy:

which options did you add and why? which options do you like most?

I added a 4 speed......the reason should be obvious....haha.... :2thumbs:

I also removed the A/C and the PS......high rpm's tend to burn up pumps and throw belts....

I would think so.

That was my intent. or factory style with modern parts that still look OEM (like power windows with modern cable drive motors etc.).

Added to my 70 RT/SE

J45 hood pins

I see a lot of you added passenger side mirrors. I think about doing this every time I drive my car. I usually drive a truck with no rear windows, so I just can't get the hang of backing the car up with no mirror. Can anyone tell me if a passenger side mirror was an option on a 68 Charger R/T?

tan top

 factory options

was going to be a NOS locking gas cap ,  but its still in sealed plastic Factory packaging & box :scratchchin: not sure to use it or not   might get a repop one sometime  , if laysons are still making them  :shruggy:

I have added EVERYTHING is posible, but powered windows, 6 way driver seat, cassette player and sunroof.

have not mounted yet the Cruise Control but already have all the parts.

6 way seat wasn't an option for 74 anyway.

powered windows require A LOT of parts what makes virtually imposible to find... specially the upper rear panel brougham kind for hardtop ( to eliminate the crank hole )...

sunroof is REALLY HARD to find, I haven't bothered on search it PLUS WILL NEED TO ADD THE SHIPPING TO VENEZUELA.

cassette player... really expensive without guaranteed to work.

added electric trunk lock latch, which was optional on Mopars, not for Chargers as far I know, and the one I added is not the correct for 74, although still Chrysler.

added VARIABLE ( not 3 speeds ) wiper switch what wasn't an option anymore since 72. Of course the wiper motor is an upgrade too, due I got 2 speeds from fact

have the rear deffog/ rear speaker adaptor, what wasn't an option on B bodies, but will mount... someday.

what other stuff I have added which wasn't from factory ? let me see, mmm...

rallye cluster with clock... I don't think will fit a tach on cluster, I have a very discrete autometer tach below the dash frame

full 74 seatbelt system ( locally we got just lap belts )

brougham white panels, from standard woodgrained blue panels from fact.

highback buckets... locally Chargers got shortbacks made locally.

hood pins.

fender turn signals.

rallye wheels from deluxe hubcaps

both sides racing chromed mirrors from the standard on driver side

AM/FM stereo multiplexer radio from the AM Mono

map light

...

then the mechanical stuff like SG, rear sway bar...
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Back N Black

I found a 69 R/T in a farmers field and this is what was donated to my car:

Seats
Center console
Steering column
Wood grain steering wheel
Dash components
440 motor
727 trans
8 3/4 rear & springs
fronts disc brakes
hood
grill

70 Charger RT

I'll be adding a passenger side mirror that wasn't on the car originally (for safety reasons).  I'm also replacing the AM radio to an 8 track/AM because I have one.  The original 440 is long gone so I'll be installing a Hemi.  Either 426 or 528.  Don't know which yet.  I'll also be installing Coker BFG Silvertown radials to replace the original polyglass.  Most everything else will be as it came out of the factory.  I still have the original build sheet and original bill of sale.  Can't wait to get it on the road.

I see a lot of you guys delete the power steering. Why? Power?

383_68charger

I'm thinking on installing front disk brakes off a 84 diplomat.I was told that the spindles fit right on but you got to use the original charger ball joint.Has any one done that before? The fella that told me this said he did it to his charger but......we will see.

Why no tips  in California?

I believe it had something to do with wacky emissions laws. All CA cars had the turned-down tailpipes.
