Do you have any thoughts on offseason moves so far, or draft thoughts?  Here's a funny pic floating around Facebook I thought I'd share to spark some Manning conversation.  Personally, I hope he is able to come back and play a few more seasons.  I am not ready to stop watching him play, he is one of the all-time greatest.  Regarding my Giants, I hope we draft well this year.  I'm ok with them letting Jacobs go.

I am a Colts fan (way before Peyton either!!) And I think it was the right move to release Peyton and I think he will do well in Denver and I hope he does, But I can't wait to watch Andrew Luck!! Lots of wild things happening now in the off season! I like it but football is my favorite sport bar none!
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

congrats on your Giants winning the big game... Yep the whole Peyton Place saga...LOL... is finally over, reminds me of the Bret Farve saga, maybe he will be the guy in Denver that takes them farther, we'll see soon enough, it's really too bad for Tim Tebow, unfortunately that's what the NFL is now NOT FOR LONG, for some players it seems, he was the guy last year, remember Tebow Mania, now he's the guy to be traded, because of a 36 year old recovering injured/surgery veteren QB, that Indy didn't want to pay his high demanded salary... He was suppose to get like $26 million & a $100 million 5 year contract or something like that, from Indy/Colts, I'm not sure what the Denver/Brocos deal is yet, but he's not worth that in my opinion... I'm not a Tim Tebow fan or really a Peyton Manning fan either, but Manning has proven himself for 14+ years now, it sure seems like the team bailed on Tebow pretty damn quickly.... I can't wait tell draft day even if my lowly Raiders don't have a 1st round pick, a new nobody head coach, ex-owners son running the show & a new GM...

I believe they said it's official: Peyton to Denver for 5 years and $96 million. The Colts avoided a $28 million bonus by letting him go. They'll have to fork over some cash to Luck but the new CBA cuts down on the ridiculous rookie pay. Both the Colts and Broncos will need to find decent backup quarterbacks. Tebow is job hunting - although they haven't officially released him. At lunch I saw 2 different analysts discuss the matter. Tebow is an owner's dream (marketing, ticket sales and merchandise sales) but a coaching staff's nightmare. There are only a few teams that he'd fit well in (uh, not ones with a pass heavy offense). One of the guys was saying he is a good football player and should change positions. Uh, do you think his pay would be the same if he wasn't a quarterback?

And one of the Squealers cheaters retired... ;) Sorry, have to hate on Pittsburgh. For anyone who cares, Hines Ward announced his retirement from football.

Uh oh. . . .  do I sense a bitter Bungal fan (assuming this because of where you live) who has not gotten over Pittsburgh going Joe Thiesmann on Carson? Or it could be how Pittsburgh whips them up and down the field year after year.  :D  :nana:  ;)

I did not hear about Hines retiring.  One of the true good guys in football.  Always played clean and always was smiling.  Steeler Nation will miss him

If Peyton is able to come back at 100%, I think he is worth the money in making Denver a Superbowl contender and ticket/merchandise sales.  Hell, he's probably worth it at 85%-90%.  It looks like Denver protected themselves in the deal, and the only guaranteed money is this season's paycheck of $18MM.  If you look at the fact that the Colts went from a Superbowl appearance in 2009 @ 14-2, then 10-6 in 2010, and then 2-14 without Peyton, imagine what the outcome could be by adding a 100% Peyton to a Denver team that was 8-8 and in the playoffs last year.  It could easily put them in the Superbowl during his new 5 year contract which is all they're after.  Banking on an aging and recovering veteran QB shows they're not only not building a dynasty right now and they're not interested in doing it with Tebow either.

IMO, they're looking for a quick Superbowl appearance, and probably get a new young QB stud this or next year to be an understudy with one of the best QBs in history and build their next dynasty around that kid (to be named later).

I do hope he can come back though, I love watching him play the game.

QuoteAnd so, the deal was sealed. Manning has a five-year, $96 million contract and plans to retire in Denver. The Broncos, meanwhile, have some protection in the way the contract was formulated. There's no signing bonus. Manning will get $18 million guaranteed for next season, but must pass a physical before each season, starting in 2013, to get paid.

A source told ESPN business analyst Andrew Brandt that Manning will be paid $20 million in both the 2013 and '14 seasons if he passes a team physical to be given 10 days before the start of the 2013 league year. There is an injury waiver included in the contract, however, covering Manning's surgically repaired neck. If he re-injures the neck during the 2013 season, the Broncos will not have to pay his 2014 salary.

He is scheduled to make $19 million in both '15 and '16.

I heard several news reports saying Payton was not going to use the 18 in Denver.  But just a couple minutes ago I see a press conference with Payton holding up the 18 jersey. Shows you what the "experts" know.

Any bets on how long Peyton lasts? I really think Denver is going to hose themselves on this deal, big time, and it's probably going to take them two years to get to where they are now, if ever. One good hit from the side and Manning's neck is done forever. He's a 14-year veteran and even without a major injury and major surgery that's got 'soon-to-be has-been" written all over it. He'll be in the announcers booth within five years I predict.

Tebow got screwed over by Denver. The Broncos are dumping Scarlett Johansson to go out with Demi Moore.

Aside from all that, Peyton Manning has never impressed me one bit. And the Colts' hurry-up offense with him was one of the most annoying things I've ever seen: Manning walks up to the line of scrimmage, thinks he sees something in the defensive lineup he can use to his advantage, comes up with an audible and then starts running around like a chicken with its head cut off to tell everyone what it is while the play clock dwindles down to nothing. During this time half his players get confused, he gets nervous and frustrated and the defense just makes a slight adjustment to screw him up even worse. Finally the center snaps the ball and he throws a five-yard incompletion. It's happened time and time and time again. Eli is ten times the QB his older brother will ever be.

If you look to see how many times I've posted in a football thread you can see how big a fan I am. I don't really watch sports - I play them. However, my friend's family is from Pittsburgh and they are true fanatics about everything so it's ingrained in me to slight any of their teams just to get them all riled up. It's funny when people try to come back and bash "my team" only to find out that I really don't care. ;)

So much for thinking Sean Payton or the Saints were a class act, that's out the window now... The commish is becoming a hard a$$ finally, he finally got some back bone & did the right thing, same thing should have happened to New England IMHO... The league should lay down the law, start taking away a game check &/or multiple game checks for cheepshoot hits, flagrent fouls, any type of cheating, then ban any damn covicted felons from ever playing, choaching, scouting or any other association with the league for life if necessary, that will curb the cheaters with no sense of sportsmanship or sense of decency, "some maybe"... The NFL needs to shed the thug, gang banger type mentality, it is becoming just like the NBA... It's one thing to see a great hit it's something else all together to see some of these cheapshots... I can see many law suits in the future on this stuff, from players effected... That's My 2 cents anyway

They also hit the team with losing 2nd round draft picks in 2012 and 2013 plus fines and no GM for half of the season.  Plus the old DC is indefinitely suspended from the NFL.  I also bet this will extend to other teams as they expand the investigation.  This is surreal, I always loved Coach Payton since he was the OC for the Giants.

Yep I'm sure it happens every were, but is it as flagrent as the Saints or New England or on any other Super Bowl winning teams, or to use a NASCAR example done by 5 Time champions like Jimmy Johnsons team or multiple championships like Jeff Gordon, Chad K., Jimmy's crew chief "kind of the head coach of a racing team", got busted for that cheating type stuff a bunch of times, racing cheating is a good analogy, "if your not cheating, your not trying"... There use to be a sign in the Oakland locker room that said Rules: #1 "Cheating is in-couraged" Just Win Baby

Hope Tebow does well in New York.. Lord knows they need prayers answered.... Speaking of which, media oughta leave him alone. Rather see someone pray than doing some funky-punky-dance-hip-action-that-makes-no-sense move...  Just spike the dang ball and be done with it....

My Dolphins? Another team that needs prayers.............

Denver? Hope Payton goes down like Elway, with a Championship...

The Saints? The land below sea-level lives below standards............ Man !!! Another team that needs prayers.......

I agree, and I think they'll find more evidence and come down on more teams, players and coaches.  I think this is just the beginning.  Pandora's Box has just opened.  Regarding the Pats and the cheating/video taping scandal, they got off way too easy.
