which pistons would i use in a 451 build? low-block (400) or raised block (440) ? I read somewhere that i can bore the 400 out .035 (4.375) and  and this is equivelant of .055 over the 440 piston....i would assume that i need to find low block pistons, but i figured i'd check before i did something stupid
thanks  :icon_smile_cool:
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

there are several ways to go,  if your wanting a ross or diomond ect type piston the 4.375 piston is what most people stock (.033 over bore)

if you go with a kb piston they they come in .020 .030 .040 ect over bore.     you will need a low deck stroker piston becasue the 440 pistons would stick out of the bore with the taller compression heights.  good luck with your biuld!
