Kinda curious... any theorys on why they made so little '68 xp 4 speeds? They churned out 3,xxx in 1969 and even 1970 got a few thousand I think (if I remember correctly) So why less then 400 cars in 1968?

Should there be a  reverse light on the dash  on  a 68 four speed ?    I do not see one  .       :scratchchin:

Not entirely sure right now but I believe it was optional.

Only if it had the Hurst Shifter. With the positive reverse lockout the Inland's didn't need or use them. This July 5th built car should have had the reverse light. Probably left off when it was restored.  :Twocents:

Was the inland shift early model year '68, hurst starting mid-year?

That is correct. I believe sometime around late Feb/early March was when the switch took place.

Must have struck a deal? The listing was ended by the seller at $23,500.

It appears that the auction ended at its anointed time, with no one meeting the reserve price. Now is when the prospective buyers start talking to the seller...

It either fell through then or they have a ridiculous idea of what it should bring and ended it early last time because they weren't happy with the instant online appraisal they were getting.  Hopefully this time it all goes well.

Looks to me like the car is just being resold by a dealer now. Original Ebay ad was in WI  :scratchchin:  and this is out of PA..  Wheeler Dealers maybe?  :shruggy:

Neat! The C6B frost blue interior looks right (and it's fun for me to finally see a blue interior console 4-gear).  It may have the reverse light, but it simply isn't shown in that angle of the interior photo (mine sits fairly low on the dash).  The UU-1 exterior doesn't look anything like mine (mind you, my car has been repainted at least twice now).  My version of UU-1 looks more silver and is a much lighter shade of blue.  I used to think that I'd rather have a hardtop, but after looking at black vinyl for so long I guess I'm more used to that now.  The breather connector to the air cleaner is different than mine (paint vrs. chrome) and is shaped slightly differently, but it is a 383 car after all.  From what I've read so far, I'd guess that it is indeed a "flipper" situation, but it seems to be a fairly nice example of the species. Being from Pennsylvania, I can tell you that even the cars that were well cared-for there don't look that good after 44-years (long and very bad winters in a very damp climate, as-well-as the ever present potholes and salt always seemed to take their toll). The claim of it coming from out-of-state makes sense, even with those supposedly-original low miles.

Obviously, I'm interested in how much it finally goes for.

I don't think it was repainted in a proper UU1 hue. Looks more like a QQ1..

The Lake Geneva,WI owner in their auction (listed in the initial post) stated it was a CA car.

Last spring (almost exactly a year ago) a completely original (yes survivor) 68 383 4spd QQ1 white interior console car.. basically same options - the auction ended at 29k. It will be interesting to see if they can flip it for more as the first auction was pulled at 24k so we don't know the sale price.

$29K eh?  Not a bad number at all for a nice original 383 car.  I've started tracking the listing so as to see where it ends up. I've also looked at the recent eBay advert a bit more closely and I guess that I don't see a reverse light either, so a minor error on the restorer's part?  Those exhaust tips are not to my taste either, but no biggie.  It seems to be a fairly honest example and it's a hoot for me to see it because it is so-much like my own car.  Did I see that it decodes to a July 5th build date, because the Julian Calender (at least as I understand and decode it) gives that same build date for my UU-1 R/T.  I saw my car again last week and the interior was done (w/new headliner, carpet, new windshield and wiper seals in place). All that remains are brakes and the tailstripe decal and I'm back in the gas guzzling business here (after almost 4-years).  Ahhh, to be politically incorrect yet again!

Has anyone emailed the new seller and asked for a copy of the broadcast sheet?

That was the previous seller, correct?

I believe he made a lame excuse. Maybe the new seller would be a little more forthcoming with the fragile document.

Was that previouls one last spring an R/T ? I don't recall, but thinking it was. Out of TX I believe.

The one I brought up was most definitely not an RT, but a 383 4spd and was in TX.  It was basically the car I wanted, OE options wise, but was out of my price range. When I called the owner about the car she said she had a 35k reserve. I believe sold it to the highest bidder as she was liquidating her fathers estate and it was his car (he had bought it new).

Yeah, that was the one. I talked to her as well.
My mistake. Nice car, as is this one.

I think $35K was out of range for that one , just as I think $40K is out of range for this one , IMO .
