Another car just like this came up on ebay almost exactly a year ago (I recall because I was in FL on business at that time). It was a Texas all original (paint/interior/spare/...) 4bbl 4spd QQ1 original owner with white interior and I believe manual brakes and an AM radio.  I was looking at the time and the owner, deceased's daughter, wanted 35k for it. It bid up to 29k. It was out of my price range and I figured it would get re-listed but it never was so I suspect they sold to the highest bidder.

This car looks like it has been repainted QQ1, and it's missing the Tach in the dash. The Texas car I mentioned they didn't look for the broadcast sheet and left that up in the air.

I don't think it will go for the BIN but ya never can tell.  :Twocents:

I think you should sell your car and buy this one...   :icon_smile_big:    :icon_smile_big:

Looks to be in pretty good shape.  Nice having the 26" radiator - but could have at least hooked up an overflow hose on the radiator.

Will be interesting to see what it goes for.  :yesnod:

Just for comparison, here is a very nice 69 383 4spd numbers matching car that sold on ebay a few days ago for $36K. It had lots of bidding for a week then sold for the BIN price. The current red with black top is nice :2thumbs: but the fender tag says it was originally white with white top and red interior. I don't recall seeing that combo before. I think that would be very striking and probably rare.  :shruggy:

Troy

It's coded for an 8 track but doesn't appear to have a 3 speaker dash. Tach is missing too. :scratchchin:

Definitely not stuff you see every day: 3.55 SG, tachometer, rear defrost, and rear speaker (to go along with the 8 track no less). Wonder if the 3.55 is what prompted the 26" rad? Wouldn't it also have a power steering cooler then? I'm very fuzzy on this.

The passenger mirror is MIA and the horn button is odd.

The interior code looks like "C6D" (white/green) in one picture but "C6C" (white/blue) in another - which is more likely. However, I thought white/blue interior was primarily white which would make the door paint white as well. I'm fuzzy on that though since there are very few cars coded for it (and the last nice one I saw was converted to a GL).

There's no "sold car" designation so this combination just something that popped up in regular production?

The color definitely doesn't look like UU1 light blue. I don't think it looks QQ1 either - although the metallics (blues especially) are very hard to photograph.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I wondered about the 3spkr dash too since I thought that it was supposed to be there.  :icon_smile_question:

I don't know about the rad either. If it had AC that would be one thing.

The horn button is wrong (just like the hemi 68 that sold for 90 sumpin K at BJ earlier in the year). The missing mirror and new paint suggest possible door replacement or they broke/lost the pass mirror and didn't bother to find another and just sealed up the hole. Which is sad because it's a rare option IIRC.

Yea, the interior code is difficult to make out, if it was white then the door code should also be white. I have seen this several times. That's why I figured it was a B rather than a C.  Too bad the build sheet is not legible in the pic. Maybe Dan will ask him for a better pic and clear it all up.

Seems like an odd regular production car combo indeed.

Sumthin' seems fishy. Why would the fender tag have rear defrost, rear speaker, AM 8-track, and tach when the car clearly doesn't have any of these things? I can understand a radio swap but that's about it.

You would have to see the buildsheet to verify.  :scratchchin:

Like Troy said, the interior code appears to read (C6D - white w/green carpet) but can only be (C6B - blue w/blue carpet).  Maybe the "B" wasn't striking hard that day?  (C6C - white w/blue carpet), (C6B  - blue w/blue carpet), and (C6W - white w/black carpet) were the only three interiors offered with UU1 "light blue met".

The car has been "restored" even though it supposedly has 41k miles and, at this point, it barely resembles the tag. It's possible that the car was parted at one point or those parts didn't come with the car when the current owner bought it.

There was a blue one near me a few years ago that was nothing but a mangled shell and tags. The numbers engine and some other parts were in another 68 that the guy had. It disappeared a few months after I first inquired about it but, if someone wanted to put it back on the road they'd have to find a ton of parts. The cost of some of the rare items might prohibit putting them back on the car.

Just speculation of course! Who knows the real story. Being able to read the build sheet would be nice since it will tie the fender tag, body stampings, and VIN together.

The 3.55 came with the Performance Axle Package (code 358) and included the sure grip, 26" radiator and seven-blade slip-drive fan with shroud (according to my sketchy sources).

I don't know, The tag doesn't seem bogus to me, or at least it's not incorrect as far as I can tell. I still think that it's a B.  It certainly isn't a C as the left side of the letter is most definitely straight, unlike the C just to the left.
