Anyone recall ever seeing a Charger with a lowered roof?

My buddy Larry bought a 69 Charger back in 95. It had about a 3" chop done to the roof, it was in sad shape then but had been quite a piece of work in it's day. Modified in the 70's with tons of electrical do-dads the dash and console had lot's of switches and indicator button lights, a tuck and roll, old school burgundy velvet fuzzy interior, red tinted or red plexiglass back window. The frame rails had rusted out really bad and back then that was the kiss of death. It was sold for the still good running 383/727 transmission and the rest scrapped/crushed by the guy who bought it. All that's left is the brake peddle assembly I was allowed to salvage to replace the brake/clutch peddle that was in my car when I bought it. (A vestige of the 4 speed drag racing days in my car's past.)
We called the car "Darth Vader" as it looked so mean and nasty with it's now flat black lacquer paint and lowered roof. The guy he bought it from was the one who did all that work and had showed it in Florida at car shows and what not for years. He was an electrician, hence all the do-dads, switches and lights. The bodywork may have been in lead as no signs of body filler popping or failing were evident. The lines were remarkably well formed and maintained the Charger's shape, Larry and I are kicking ourselves for not getting any pictures back then.
We can't help thinking SOMEONE SOMEWHERE in the late 70's and 80's took pics or had to have seen and remembers this old beast, it was really something else!

I remember that one as well, TT. Someone posted pics of it on here.  :yesnod:

At the time we couldn't figure out where or how it was chopped in the rear, the front was easier. The main thing I remember is unbolting the cup under the column while laying on my back in the drivers foot well. After shining a flashlight around to see what was involved in removing the peddle assembly with that part still in my hand. I glanced at the other side of the cup only to see the biggest Brown Recluse Spider I've ever seen nestled in it... 8 inches from my face!!!  :o  I screamed like a little girl while throwing the part as far as I could!
I remember leaving cussing and fussing, getting a can of Raid and a can of bug fogger and blasting the entire car with the whole can of Raid then setting off the fogger inside. I came back the next day to finish removal with a second can of Raid wishing I'd brought Holy Water also!

I have two pictures of the chopped top 66 Charger, but they are too big to post.  If someone would like me to send them to their email, perhaps they could resize and post.
I also, have a book I purchased a couple of years ago on how to chop tops......one of the cars featured was how to chop a first generation Charger..................(I believe the book is still in book stores)

I thought I had a pic of a 2nd gen with a chopped roof but I can't seem to locate the picture. All I can find is this pic of a Road Runner with a chopped roof that I saw go up in flames last year.

I understand this particular car has not been well recieved by a few members of the forum in the past.

It is absolutely stunning in person.

It would look even better if it would lose the wheels :eek2:

I don't think I'm stunned more than flabbergasted.  :eek2: But it does prove no matter how hard you try, it's impossible to make a gen2 Charger look hideous.  :Twocents:
