engine number stampings

Looking to find out what the stampings mean.

Pad on front of engine-

E440 = 69 440

that is followed by a maltese cross and that is followed by an x
bottom row has 12      13 HP2 , and an upside down A off to the right.

Thank you sir. I didn't see what an upside down A is for,anyone know?? Everything else was there though.

Dec 13th (1968) assembly date. HP2 = Hi-Perf, 2nd shift
"A" can mean .020" oversize cylinder bore - but not always that I've found
Maltese Cross and an X should be .010"  Undersize Crank
