65 Valiant doesn't do anything when ignition key is turned

I'm getting frustrated at this. When I try to start my 65 Valiant 170 it doesn't do anything. It's got all new components. New relay, starter, cables, wiring harness, battery, pretty much everything bolt on has been replaced. Dash harness is a donor from maybe a Barracuda or possibly another Valiant. Got it on EBAY used but it all looked good, no splicing. I verified everything looks hooked up correct according to the 65 wiring diagram. I thought maybe some connections were loose. So the post nut on the relay was a little loose, so I tightened it. Also the small wire going to the starter was a little loose so I tightened it too. I thought the neutral safety was bad. It's an automatic. So I grounded the ground terminal on the relay, and still nothing. I tried starting in all gear positions and nothing. I checked all the wiring and it all is in and goes to the correct pieces. The new ignition switch I got has an extra terminal for a ground but I don't have an extra wire to hook there. My original switch didn't have that extra pin there and it didn't work either. Is the starter relay bad? I have the connections on the big stud against the nut that came on the relay and then another nut sandwhiching them tight. Are the connections suppose to go behind the nut that came on the starter relay?

Did you try starting at the starter relay? use a screw driver or a jumper wire.

Yeah it starts with a screwdriver to the starter relay. That's how I've been starting it. I just don't know if it's the way I have all the wires bolted on the big stud or if the relay itself is bad. It is a new replacement part.

Check the connection where the wiring comes through the firewall.... Does it have a fusible link that may be burned?

ok, is the valiant one of the cars that had a rod that the tumbler would push on? its been so long since ive been into one of the old cars. when the key tumbler was turned a rod would be pushed when the tumbler got to the starting position. if its not pushing far enough,(out of adjustment) the starter doesnt get power.dont bash me too hard if this isnt in this car. im guessing here. :shruggy:

I put a new lock cylinder in too. It has a tooth on the back of the tumbler that mates with a slot in the back of the ignition switch so it will turn. I don't think you can install wrong because if you don't have that mated it won't even go in. I made a new fusible link. It goes from the firewall fuse  box I can't remember if it's the red side or black side. But one wire goes to the alternator and the other is a fusible link that goes to the big stud on the relay. That's how I've got it hooked up. I checked those two 12 gauge wires to make sure I had them hooked up in the right place and verified they were.
