Hey gang...
Any of you had experience with a Vizio GV47L flatscreen tv that will power up when turned on then shut down immediately? Think it might be the circuit board and not the fuze?

My vizio had nearly the same problem, search for it on youtube, that's where i found a solution.  Apparently lots of vizios have problems with the capacitors on the main power board. You have to disassemble your TV (by removing 5,432 screws) and check the "caps" on your power board. They don't cost very much at your local electronic supply store (or online) and you could probably find someone local to replace them if you couldn't do it yourself. My vizio works fine now, and its been several months since we performed the fix. Once you get it fixed you might want to look into an electronic power line conditioner (plug in, looks like a typical power strip) to keep your voltage regulated that comes out of the wall, as apparently vizio did not install a voltage regulator circuit in some of their sets. Perhaps I should say; they didn't install an adequately beefed up regulator. Question: Did you buy your TV at walmart?

I didn't get the TV at Walmart.. I believe it was Best Buy.. The warranty is expired. Got it in Feb. 2008.... I did take the back off and looked at the main board on top. I couldn't see any obvious bad capacitors. All of them had flat tops, no bulging and no apparent leakage. From YouTube, google and the tech support of Vizio, everything points to the main board... Sooo, being that there isn't anything visual I can see, I'll have to take it into a repair shop and let them know I, at least, understand the system. Hopefully, they can isolate the component and replace that instead of the complete board....
