It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Depends on the electric.  There are a lot of different ones with varying cfm ratings.

For a street car the MP viscious fan package is hard to beat. It is belt driven with a clutch unit, btw.

But make sure you have room between the rad and the engine.  The MP unit has a clutch that seems to be too long for some applications.

By no means do I know as much as Ghoste and Ron. But i have a Flex a lite dual electric fan setup in my charger and it stay's alot cooler than others in town with the clutch fan. We had a parade and while everyones car was to the point of the owners concern I had no worries, I ran a even 170-180 dergree's and the air temp was 90 plus degrees outside. While at idle the electric will  put out max air volume ( mine is 2500 CFM) vs the clutch fan the more you rev the more air. There are many pro's and con's but I tend to lean towards electric fans. Hope this helps.

my 72 used to always tend to overheat during hot weather. But since I put a dual fan in front of the radiator, I never have a problem with it overheating. Have both the belt drive fan and electrics on it.

Chryco Psycho

I like the smplicity & reliablity of the clutch fan

roger01

, i havent really driven it yet but it is overheating for some reason i put a new thermastat

more like too long for every application.  there are shorter clutches available for added clearance.

:haha:  I have heard of it fitting in some.  I actually had it fit in a Charger once.  It don't fit the one I have now, but...

dkn1997 brings up another question.  I know there are shorter clutches, but does anyone have a list with brands and part numbers for them?

I learned a little about all this yesterday from a radiator shop owner. If you have a stock radiator you should be good to go with a clutch fan. I've yet to really understand why people use electric fans other than for sitting in traffic because they are a lot less adept at moving air through a radiator. If you've upgraded to a 3 or 4 row system forget the clutch (no room), forget the electric fan (not enough pull) and go with the straight, bolt-on 16"-17" fan.

would not having a fan shroud be a coause of overheating while idleing and just sitting in the driveway
