I just picked up some Flowtech headers. I wondered if they were low quality but, after seeing these TTI pictures, they seem to be just as nice in my eyes and no dents in the tubes. As for fitting everything was perfect including tons of room for the big, stock starter except that I had to do some significant fitting near the drivers side torsion bar. I took the torsion bars out to do the install. BTW, looks like I win the toy car show. This is a true survivor car. No restoration or touch ups. :icon_smile_big:

TTI does have different header part numbers depending on if B or RB engine and type of head used, plus tube size.

Even so, not one of the headers pictured on their website shows dimpled pipes  :scope:

What a bummer.

They don't look that big on my TTI's, either. Small dimples for spark plug clearance, really.
They work fantastic with angled plugs on the Eddy heads (on a 440). I can get a ratchet on all of them but one, where I use a spark plug socket combined with a ratcheting box wrench. So, yes theoretically I can use a ratchet on all of them. Changing plugs is a breeze. Installation was simple. Must use a mini-starter, though.
They ARE expensive, yes.

I don't know but the $150 Hedmans I have fit fine. Sure changing plugs isn't much fun but the 10 extra minutes isn't worth the extra cost to me.

Not busting chops here but I do not think the creases are needed in the TTI & for the price they should be perfect.

So I guess the question is, do I need to send them back and get my money back? They are obviously dented on purpose for spark plug clearance but when I first took them out, I thought they were dented in quite a bit for the plugs. Definitely not an accident. Done on purpose.

Anyone else with TTIs that have this issue? I just went with TTIs after a long debate since the majority of people highly recommended TTIs.

Are these notched places for the plugs gonna cause flow/HP issues?

For almost a grand they should be perfect!

Hemidog

Wierd. I've got B block TTI headers, and no dings whatsoever.... Although one of the spark plugs needed a heat sock.

RIDELIKEHELL

I have a complete TTI system but have yet to see it in person..Shawn says its real pretty though ;)

I'm with the rest on this one, for the money they should be perfect.  I would definitely send them back and go with another brand of headers.  I don't think these are worth the price.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Hemidog

I would send a picture to TTI, and have them explain that ding, and say that other customers does not have a ding that size.

No dents in my Hedmans either...  :shruggy:

Don't fret. You'll get to add a few when you put them in. Then they'll be on par with $1000 TTI's!

I can assure you, no dings near the exhaust ports are necessary, and that was the topic of discussion.

I didn't have to do anything to my Hedmans, no dimple or dent....NOTHING & $159!

They did get scratched up but that isn't a fitment problem. Not everything that is high dollar is the best choice.

Pigs do you happen to know the part # for your Hedmans?

greenpigs

They went up $10.

I had power steering when I first put them on and it was snug, but I didn't have to do anything to them.

So funny cause I poured over previous threads regarding headers...even started my own (http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,86826.msg978921.html#msg978921). The majority of people kept saying "go with TTIs...more expensive but they fit great. Even hedmann people were saying my Hedmanns suck and here are pics of what I had to do to get them to fit.

Now everyone seems to be pointing to Hedmanns or other cheaper alternatives. I originally wanted to go with Hedmanns but so many people said they were terrible and so many people said TTIs were great, so I sucked it up and paid out the arsehole for TTIs (which I thought was outlandish..but everyone said you pay for what you get).

Now everyone is saying they are too expensive and not worth it.

Wish I would have had these responses 3 weeks ago ...I would have gone with Hedmanns but so many people swore up and down that they never fit properly....now all I see is the opposite.   ::)

greenpigs

I checked & it wasn't me that said go with the TTI.

Question: would these work on a 383 motor? Whats the difference between a 383 block and a 440 block that would cause them not to be compatable? I would buy these just to give them a shot...

terrible one

I used these on my 383, bought them a few years ago like greenpigs when they were a bit cheaper. The difference between 383 and 440 is that the 440 is taller being a raised block (RB) motor. Using this set on a 383, mine required beating one tube in about 1/4" for a length of around 4" to clear the starter, but that was all. I can see how this problem would be solved when used on a 440, since it is an RB motor. Oddly enough, there were absolutely no clearance issues with my power steering box; not even close to having any problems there. Even with having to bash that tube in, I'm still plenty satisfied with mine for the price. Still, I'll bet that you could find a set specifically for a B engine that would have a better fit.

Back N Black

I still stand by TTI Headers, i have ceramic coated headers,so i know they will not rust . Again , i had no problems with fit and finish. I payed $620 about three years ago.

Did you use a mini starter also?
