How about the 2 cars both red & black Hemi cars 1) 70 Hemi RT Coronet & 1) 71 Hemi Roadrunner together going for I think $95k for both cars that's the buy of the auction....
Buy one get one free.    Talk is they were hammered sold really quick.

>>>Just Sayin  :whistling:

Whenever they drop a hammer that quick without the typical warning of 1st, 2nd, and "hammers in the air" notice there's a bullshit reason at Barrett-Jackson.

They're becoming famous for this type of auction fraud.  Either its a "buy-back" to help a consigner buy a car under value, or a known schill bidder to protect the consigners investment.

BTW, you'll notice whenever this happens auctioner "SPANKY ASSISTER is involved.  Gaurantee this bullshit will happen because he's on payroll unlike the other auctioneers.  It's proven he'll spot the "correct bidder" for his short sales - then drop the gavel early. Nobody else ever had a chance.  :eek2:

Nearly every fake sale also has help from his "supposed wife" who probably doesn't even sleep with the old fart but that's another story....

She's become the most likely "bidder assistant" and the go to person with the fake bidder.  They'll also use the [super rich] "skybox bidder approach" who's just so happened to have bought an awful lot of cars today!  :2guns:

TUFCAT

On TV....I've watched several "short gavel" sales where the camera immediately pointed to the "Happy Skybox Bidder".  :shruggy:

Really?? That must be cool....

If you're [Super Rich and Super Connected] you can bid above the competing floor bidders, get the auctioneers attention, then win on a short gavel drop on the last bid. Those are best seats in the house.  :D

I would have been PO'ed if I was the consigner, I noticed it seemed to be a quick gavel, not many bidders, It's kind of hard to believe no bidders on 2 great Hemi cars...  I'm not the conspiracy theory type usually, but something seemed wrong with that sale....

I have been to a few of the auctions they are a ZOO, ton's of people on stage that don't belong there if not bidding on the car on the block, cameras every were & tons of stupid a$$ people trying to get on camera, I personally think it would be extremely tough to run an auction under the conditions, that they are under, especially during the TV coverage portions, there are thousands of people talking, screaming, moving about & way too much distractions going on... They need to get that stuff especially the people on the stage/auction block handled, these cars are many peoples income, to make any type of mistakes, especially dealing with 6-7 figure collector cars & 10%+ fees, coming from both the consigners & buyers, They need to get it right...

yes. why the heck are there 100 people on the stage during the auction? i understand if there are a couple guys just wanting to make sure they get in on the bid and their seats are in the back, but so many people BSing and playing. why dont they block the stage? so many times they had to move people out of the way to bring the car up on the block. :shruggy:

I also think there should be a minimum time, for the car to be on the block, no bull$hit, like a rush deal or quick gavels every car & consignor deserves the time on the block, even if it's a $5k beater car, look at the amount of time the charity cars & any Shelby or Mustang or B/J special or even celebrity cars are on the block, no exceptions as longs as bids a coming in, past the minimum time frame, leave them on the block period, the consignors deserve it....

they try to say they give equal time, but anyone can see that some cars get special attention. and i do see a need for the charity cars, but it is turning into a giant charity ball with camera time while the cars i want to see are on commercials.

:hah: I like the charity thing personally great causes :2thumbs:, but don't give any preferences to anyone, it's equally valuable to each consignor, they aren't all millionairs that don't need the cash...

Ha! No respect. :'(  One of those "old dudes in the skybox" tapped my window at the liquor store today with $5 in hand wanting two 40's of Old Milwaukee bottles. :smilielol:  I asked why not buy it yourself?? He said "They don't let me in that place anymore". :D

yep it's a class auction, been to Scottsdale & Las Vegas & a bunch of lessor type auctions, Mecum, RM, Gooding & others I won't bother to mention, in LA, Dallas, Reno, Las Vegas, Monterey, Scottsdale & Indy... I still prefer the B/J auction by far, it's far better than just a car show, swap-meet, museum or even an auction, there's lots of people & top quality cars, all in 1 place, some beautiful women every were {if your into that sort of thing},  :hah: my ex-girlfriend hated it... :smilielol:... If someone hasn't ever been to a B/J auction, it's a great car guy gathering period....

Budnick and 68 bullitt, I've never been to any BJ auctions so forgive my lack of first hand knowledge. They probably produce the best auction TV show, and attract the best cars and hottest babes! :icon_smile_tongue:

Personally I think the only real "class people" are commentators Steve Magnante, Mike Joy, Bob Varsha, Rick Debrul, and Matt Stone.  Spanky's short gaveling issues speak to "non-class" auction style, and raise serious questions about the integrity of people who run it...  :Twocents: :Twocents:

Why do you think Steve Davis is a "class act" - do you have personal experiences buying or selling there?  :scratchchin:

nvrbdn

steve magnante is absolutely incredible. the knowledge that man has on all makes is insane. i do enjoy listening to him running through a car. :2thumbs:

Steve D. of BJ personally a very intelligent Man, a buisness Man however also a down to earth. Yes My Family and I know most of them from buying and selling cars over the years. I really do not know the integrity of the BJ Auction as a buisness as thats none of my buisness although I will say we have always had possitive dealings with Barrett-Jackson. As we all know, its always a buisness there.

Steve Magnante is the VIN-tag guru, that's for sure, he's also a die hard MOPAR guy, down to the bone, I have had a few conversations with him & Mike Joy both are really cool & decent guys, I don't know any of them personally, just thru the auction.... Matt Stone seams as if he is a real stand offish guy, he wouldn't give me the time of day, when I was introduced to him... Spanky & Amy Asscider {spelling?} seam like really nice people, they do other auctions outside of B/J, they just contract out their company/services to B/J for a flat rate for the auctions, I just met them a couple of years back, I had a couple of brief conversations about the business & my buddies car that was going up on the block, pryer to the auction... I Don't really know any of them well enough to make any kind of real judgement as to there true nature or personality...
