What to look for in master cylinder and brake booster

So I want to install the wilwood front disc kit this spring but need some more parts.  I have the prop valve but the car has a drum brake master cylinder and the drum brake booster.  Which master is recommended for the disc brake kit and can I use the booster I have now or do I need another?

This is for a street driven 69 charger, no racing.

Midland/Ross booster right? Change to a disk master cylinder and use an adjustable proportional valve for the rear drums. Look up Mopar Action's Disco-Tech feature in their archives.  :2thumbs:

I just looked up the article, thanks!

I have no clue what booster it is.  I was a 318 car but the previous owner swapped it for the entire drivetrain from a 71 cop car.  Are the boosters different?  I have no clue.

I do have the adjustable prop valve for the rear drums so If I can just use the same booster then all I need is the master cylinder?  That's good to know.  Is there any particular model that works best?  the article wasn't clear.

Thanks for the help!

I have a topic on "manual brake conversion" here some place, try a search of that. In it are pics of my booster. Or Google it to see pics. Best bet on master is disk for your year, just make sure the lines come out the correct side.  :2thumbs:

For a split second I was surprised they would have different mc's with the lines on different sides...then I remembered we're talking mopar here.   :icon_smile_big:

Heck I'll have to look up some pictures of mine, I 'think' they exit on the passenger side.  Hopefully Rockauto carries these, getting a bit tired of the dipsticks at the local autoparts stores.

Found your thread, thanks for the info!   :2thumbs:

Edit:  Nope the lines are on the ds.

So I found a Cardone 101404 and a Bendix 11515.

I think either of those will bolt right onto my booster.  Should I get one of those or do you recommend something else?

As I've not done the swap to disk yet, I can't testify. Your selection is wide for master cylinder but invest in NEW! I pitched the boost altogether and will most likely adapt to a modern 2 bolt truck master. (When I convert to 11 3/4 disk.)  :2thumbs:   Just refer to Disk-0-Tech for a guide line.

I was just reading the article again and mentions any mc '70 and up will work.  I can get the bendix new but the cardone is reman only.  I'll get the bendix!  I'm keeping the booster though, it's a cruiser car.

Thanks bud!

Will do, the 'surgery' is not until spring though.  Just trying to plan ahead and get all the parts here.

Doing the disc brake swap, rear shocks and sway bar, rebuild and install thermoquad, redo the instrument cluster, find some 15" wheels....I hope I'll have time left to drive the thing!
