Sweet guys.

We're putting together the first email right now.  If you haven't signed up, drop an email to the address below.

mopoweredtour@yahoo.com

I am trying to work out a way to fix this thing up and take it on Tour.  Make it easy for all the Mopar guys to find it and hang out!

Only needs a transmission, brakes and interior work.

Cool rig. I worked on RVs for a few years, if you need any info I can help. What's with the brakes? Are they vacuum assist or hydro-boost? Worn out or frozen? 413 or 440? 727 trans? Make a new thread lol.

I'm with you it's very near a $10K venture total, last time it was over $3k just for fuel for both car & truck, for 14+days minimum for me to go back east & do the whole tour, take the truck & 28ft self contained travel trailer & my car, plus the food & entertainment for 2-3 or 4 people & camp sites or trailer parks $50+ per night for a decent one, with 40-50 amp hook ups, so you can use the A/C & not sweat to death & then fuel costs at near $4 per gallon for premium fuel for Cars & Diesel is $4+ per gallon for the support vehicle/travel trailer instead of a hotel, "They get pissed, if you even slightly suggest bringing it, any were west of the Mississippi" let alone the west coast, at least they are going to Texas this next year, that's the farthest west they've come in a long time... I'm freaken broke right now, unless funds pick up the next quarter, I'm staying at home once again.... There is a nice friendly short little tour called the Anti Tour some guys from the Car Craft Magizine do a little jaunt in 3-4 or 5 days max, in Calif or Arizona & western coast states a few times now, May I think, quite a few nice cars 100+ or so, they went from LA to Monterey Peninsula & back last year, they did I think LA to Phoenix/Scottsdale the last time before that, "I think', there was discussion of bringing it from LA up the coast hwy 101 & hwy 1, to Sears Point {Infinion raceway} & Sacramento raceway tracks, maybe up to my neck of the wood in the Sierra foothills & Motherlode gold country hwys 49-120-108 area, then back down to Bakersfield, then back to LA, it never got confirmed though, just idle talk now, problem is no one know about it they don't promote it at all...But it's absolutely nothing like the size or the participation & sponsorship of the Hot Rod Power Tour

The RV is a 1972 Dodge Travco.  413, auto (No Reverse currently).  It is an absolute mess. It needs everything from brakes to interior work.  I haven't bought it.  I am firm at $600 for the beast.  The owner is at about $1200.  More pictures at the link below.

I got your emails, we are getting everything together right now for the first email blast!

That's very interesting about the expense. Never even considered it being so far away fromthe action and not able to participate. All I've thought about is how great it would be to do. I'm still watching my Rides season 2 power tour dvd, it's the only one I've been able to purchase.

This is a real project vehicle for the young hippy or camper who wants to ride in antique style! It is a 1 ton/8 lug 318 V8 Automatic with less than 90,000 miles and I had it running last year....we drove it around and everything worked fine. I have owned it for 10 years or so and it has sat for quite a while between firing it up and using it. The gas tank has old gas in it and it needs to be cleaned out. I gutted it some years back with the hopes of making a shagging wagon out of it but never got around to it. This could easily be converted into a work vehicle, a Vending truck, a party van? I will include some pictures but if you want more of a special part or angle let me know. You can respond to this ad or call me at (616) 887-6229 if you have any questions..........peace

Ha, that's a bit small for me.  The Travco is unique in that it is the first Class A motorhome... and I plan to do traveling with one.... eventually!

Guess I'm back in the Challenger for now!

Thanks, that's not even adding in, all the extra stuff you need to take just in case, spare parts, special belts, spare tires etc., I wasn't really looking for sympathy or anything, well maybe a little, I just was putting the numbers out there, I wish I could afford to go every year, between the extra expense & extra loss of time & income from the business, it just makes it really hard for us west coasters, unless your independently wealthy of course..LOL...

I always thought it would be cool to plan a Route 66 trip with some board members.  A nice 3 day trip cruising around town late Summer. :2thumbs:

I think it was, the 1st Power Tour, that was the whole Lincoln Hwy/Route 66, LA to Chicago, it wasn't a real good turn out, if I remember correctly, I might be mistaken...

The expense last year wasn't so bad, really; although the route started only 110 miles north of my home, so I didn't have so much to/from mileage. My total expense for the Tour (estimated, we did 5 weeks of visiting/touring afterwards) was something like $2500. http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,81865.0.html

Getting hotels early is not critical to sleeping, but it would lower the cost significantly. Having faith in your vehicle helps, too, not having a chase vehicle or trailer full of spares. I was lucky that I only needed an ignition module for the entire trip. I have a spare in the trunk, plus my functional failed one.

We may just continue on down Rte. 66 after this coming tour...

That would be cool.   In in Northern IL BTW.  I tried to get the Hot Rod PT group to do it last year, and no takers.  I enjoy driving my cars more than going to a show for a full day.  This is why the HRPT is the best in my opinion!  A good mix of everything.  Driving, racing, being with other gear heads, each venue, and of course, the night activities that seem to be the highlight sometimes!

My goal is to do all of Route 66 before I turn 30 in 2 years.  And then loop back on the Lincoln Highway.  And it will be in either my 71 Challenger or a Travco.

nvrbdn

that would be awesome for hot rod power tour. i agree its more fun to cruise than sit all day. but there are quite a few around here that could get together and do an illinois or illinois-missouri run over three days with corn dogs in springfield and a drive-in movie in litchfield thrown in. sounds fun. :2thumbs:
