Man there are really some good looking automobiles there. Lots of combined man hours represented there. Those old Ford Skyliners have always had a special place in my heart. They were quite an engineering feat for the times. I think they have like 6 or 8 solenoids required to work that top.

Thanks again guys. They are keeping the vote tallies secret so no idea how I'm doing. The online voting closes Feb 4th and then a panel of of celebrity judges will pick their choices (assuming they are automotive journalists/media types) and the judges results + the online voting results will be used to select the winner.

The 10 of us have a meeting with the Auto Show staff on January 18th to walk through the logistics of delivery, set up, pick up etc etc...

Just voted for you Don. Good luck, Nice car :2thumbs:   LEON.

I've been busier than all get-out recently and the Cruise Nationals is looming....I suppose the excitement faded a bit because I was so busy with other things and the whole logistics of getting the car ready and how I'm going to get the car there was becoming a nuisance. Anyways, the excitement is back!!

Wednesday night the 10 Finalists had a meeting with the Canadian International Auto Show staff to walk through the logistics and all the events. They brought in supper for us and we spent about 3 hours going through every detail, meeting all the staff, getting photo ID badges etc. Red carpet treatment. It was nice to see the other finalists again since the August 28th semi-finals.

This thing is freaking huge. I know exactly where my car will be placed...I got a primo spot. Keep in mind we are 10 classic cars in a special display at the Canadian International Auto show at a massive downtown Toronto convention center. There are 6 convention floors involved and we were all stunned to see that our cars will be sharing an entire floor with all the exotic and supercar manufacturers....so it will be us, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Lotus, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Fisker and Callaway along with an exhibit by Legendary Motors (the guys who do the TV show Dream Car Garage). They expect over 300,000 visitors.

Friday Feb 4th public on-line voting ends

Feb 15th we drop off our cars....they hand us a check for $700, stage them, custom showboards being made for us.....then that night a panel of automotive journalists will inspect our cars and vote....which will be combined with online voting to select a Grand Champion, Silver Medal and Bronze Medal.

Feb 16th at 1pm we gather at Autoshow for the announcement of the winners..........that evening we are all invited to a private VIP Black Tie Gala at the auto show....free food, drinks, entertainment and we have complete access to the entire show....no public....want to sit in a Maserati...go ahead.

Feb 17th show opens to the public and runs until Feb 26th.....our special picture ID badges give us unlimited VIP free access to enter any day / any time . There is a special VIP lounge next to our display reserved just for us to relax, eat, drink....anytime!!

Our pictures are in the brochures.....there will be AutoShow TV broadcast across Canada through local TV stations reaching about 4 million viewers. Possible press interviews...etc etc.

I am beyond excited now.

Another vote in . Good Luck Don A friend of mine up here came close a year or two ago with his black hemi 68 Roadrunner .

I think I saw that black hemi roadrunner at Autofest in August. It was parked within the Cruise Nationals section as one of last years finalists. I remember when I was walking around checking out the 60 semi-finalst cars I was competing against when I saw the RR I was like "oh crap"...it was gorgeous...but then I realized it was one of last years finalists and wasn't competing.

Last day for online general public voting which closes tomorrow....get those votes in!! The celebrity automotive journalist in person judging happens Feb 15th. Frankly I'd have preferred just doing the real judging since everyone knows the online voting is ballot box stuffing....and the GM and Ford guys outnumber us by a country mile. It is what it is. Being the only Mopar and with the quality/popularity of some of the other cars competing I doubt I'll place in the top 3....I'm content with just making the top 10. As events unfold I'll post updates. They won't tell us who got what votes...on Feb 16th they will just announce who the top 3 were. My prediction is:

1st – 69 Camaro  ( it is a Chevy....a Camaro...and the colour screams look at me)
2nd – Ford Fairlane Convertible (that retractable hardtop is an attention grabber. Very cool)
3rd – Chev Belair Convertible (not sure how it will do online voting but I think the car is one of those custom "you have to see it in person" deals and will be a judge favorite)

That said, a Mopar guy never goes down without a fight.

Don,

Did you post a request on Moparts for some support?

Yes however I was kind of surprised at the lack of support I received over there vs. here and the 70 Charger Registry message board. Perhaps Charger owners are more hardcore Mopar fans  :yesnod:
