Nice find Tan Top. I haven't seen that one before either.
It looks like the Car and Driver Magazine '68 because its got the arrow emblem on the sail panel. An early build.
It would be great to see a better quality clip of this, although there is much more animation than actual driving shots.

yes , I thought that , looks like the 71 race season , & Petty still running a F series  roadrunner body  would of though he would of had the latest hardware ,  will have a look later & try to find what race that is

Maybe, he thought the 70 body style was more competitive.   Maybe the 71 body style got wrecked and the 70 was a backup

Possibly.  The interesting thing is that he had just come off negotiating Petty Enterprises as the NASCAR source for Chrysler (ther real reason Richard Petty came back??) so he should have had no shortage of bodies or chassis.

just looked it up in the book 40 years of stock car racing
  Richard Petty ran the 70 Plymouth body in these below . the  rest of the races showed ,  he entered a 71 Plymouth .

race 1 - Riverside CA motor trend 500 ,  Riverside January the 10th 1971 ( 500 miles ) on 2.62 miles paved road course ,   finished 20th -engine problem.

race 6 -  Richmond VA ( Richmond 500 )  March 7th 1971 (271 miles) on .542 mile paved track ,  finished first

race 34 -  Winston- Salem NC  (Myers brothers Memorial )  August 6th 1971 on  62.5 miles on quarter mile paved track, finished second .  

race 38 - Columbia SC  ( sandlapper 200 )  August 27th 1971  100 miles on half mile paved track ,  finished  first

race 47 -  North Wilkesboro , NC  ( Wilkes 400 ) November 21st 1971  250 miles on .625 paved track . finished third

I guess that would make it at Riverside then.  That's pit road at the top of the photo, and I don't see a fuel inlet on the left side.  The Charger has it's inlet blocked off.  I guess it's a safe bet that this car is just a short track car with a road course thrown in.
