Steering coupler rebuild?

I diassembled my steering column to inspect,clean, and repaint it. I have heard people talk about rebuiding their steering coupler. How do you know when it's time for a rebuild? Everything looks good inside but I don't plan on taking this apart again.

Not that I noticed. But I haven't driven one of these cars new to know what "tight would feel like. When I took it apart to repack with grease i didn't see anything that would really wear out like a rag joint would. :shruggy:
