Thanks for the photo's! Pretty cool indeed. Nice white 68 Charger on the first image. I like the license plate on the police sargeant owned 68 Charger R/T on the new "Vanishing Point" -  "BEAST:2thumbs:   I tried to get that plate on my 68 Charger R/T here in NY, but it was taken already.

Can someone confirm this for me.... But i heard somewhere when they were filming this movie, they had to keep fixing the mustangs suspension with all the jumps.   While they only used 1 charger and it never broke on any of the jumps.   Ahhhhh gotta love chargers.

Read any behind-the-scenes stuff on the movie and you'll hear about how the Charger would have obliterated the Mustang in reality. The crew made no bones about saying the Charger turned out to be faster & more durable, virtually stock, than the Mustang was even after they hot-rodded its motor & reinforced its front end a bunch.

They ran the Charger with stiffer springs to help it out on the jumps. I don't think anyhing else was done to it except checking the control arms for cracks. And one of the stunt guys said they ended up actually cutting down the Charger's tire tread to handicap it.

The Mustang is said to have torn out its oil pan from jumping at one point, but they hastily welded it up w/o even removing the motor from the car. The car gave out at the end of the chase. (Watch the car's RF suspension breaking as McQueen skids to a stop after the Charger explodes.)
