I stole this off the Chiefs forum I visit.  Amazing thinking about the possibilities that could be out there.

From the author of the thread:

Quote from: DomCasual;8100580I don't see how anyone could believe we're alone in the Universe. I don't really believe we've visited by extra terrestrials, necessarily; but when you really consider the magnitude of space, it's hard to believe that there aren't other planets that just happen to be in a position relative to their star in which they could support life.

I have always been fascinated by outer space and the wonders it holds...

That is really cool. I was into astronomy for a while so I've known about the Hubble Deep Field, but didn't know about the Ultra Deep Field.

It is difficult to wrap your head around the numbers, especially when you figure that our Milky Way Galaxy is about 100,000 light years across, which seems impossibly huge...then figure that there are up to 200 billion galaxies in the universe...many of which are much larger than ours.

I take my son out occasionally to look through the telescope hoping one day to spark an interest.

thats interesting stuff !!   :yesnod:  had a telescope when i was a kid  ,  not that powerful one but  could see craters on the moon & stuff  , well fascinating  !! :yesnod:

That's pretty cool. I haven't studied astronomy, so I'm often doubtful as to exactly how they can determine that some of those galaxies are "X light years away" & billions of years old. I assume that once we actually venture to the nearest galaxy one day, that those figures might drastically change. Sorta like "Pluto is a planet...no, wait...not it's not, it's just a rock".  :icon_smile_tongue:
Scientists & astronomers like to change their minds on certain notions, I've noticed.
Regardless, that is a pretty cool photo. I'd like to see it in huge size, so I can really appreciate the magnitude of it all.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
