Anyone know of cat repellent?

  Seriously guys is there anything that repels cats? We're talking something harmless to the actual cats, no comments like German shepherds, Rottweilers, BB guns bullets or firecrackers are needed. There are four neighborhood cats that like to hang out in my carport and neighbors yard and most of the time they're harmless. However yesterday there was a huge pile of cat puke just outside my door, it was late at night and I was going out to make sure my cars were locked and sure enough I found it by stepping in it. Apparently they like spraying, crapping and urinating around here also as I've seen indicators and smelled that smell. They may also have fleas as I don't have pets yet found one on my leg. I have asked the owners to refrain from just letting them wander as they please, but that isn't working. A repellent of some sort would be nice. I've done nothing to encourage their presence as I'm allergic to them. I have ignored them, no petting or feeding. A few times I have shooed them away gently with a broom. That did not work well as they thought I was playing mostly. They only show up every now and then it's not constant however the puke was the last straw. I really don't want to trap them and turned them into animal control but the owners just don't seem to care.

Try bleach in a spray bottle. Strategic and tactical placement works. And its cheap.

Irritates the hell out of any small animal with no damage to their (or your) health.


(edit - spray the bleach on surfaces, not on the cat, that would hurt)

If it was summertime I would say use a waterhose on them. That's what I do whenever I see my neighbors cats fighting in my yard. It stops them from fighting, and it does not hurt them.

I have the same problem with my neighbour's cats. I have tried all the "humane" ways to keep them from crapping and puking in my yard and NONE of them have worked! I even borrowed a friends dog and all that did was get the dogs annoyed as they used the roof of my house as a corridor rather than the yard. We are literally surrounded by neighbours with cats (last count 5 that roam) and they all seem to use my yard as a drop in centre!

I hate cats, but I have never wanted to nor wished any harm on them (I have young impressionable kids and I don't want to set a bad example), but I think it is time they get trapped and sent to our Council. We have very strict cat laws in our town, the owner will be charged $80 for every trapped cat recovered. By law here they must be micro-chipped so if they don't collect them, they will get a visit. Any cats found without any form of identification will be destroyed. I know it seems harsh, but we live in a very fragile eco system in the outback and feral cats have contributed to a majority of the local wildlife being wiped out.

now this might sound off the wall but it does work. I'll tell the story that led up to this first. My wife is a cat magnet. They just find her. When we lived in Philly we had 5 cats and 3 dogs. But at night stray cats came through the back yard when the dogs were inside. We would get up open the windows and doors and the smell of cat pee would come in the back door. My wife would scrub the door and 2 days later it was marked again. If I walked out back when the dogs were in the cats would run just like they did when the dogs went out. So one night after dark I went out and peed all around the edge of the porch. It took a few weeks for the cats to spray the door again after that. My wife noticed how long it had been from the last time so I told her what I did. After dark that night she told me to go do my thing. The rest of the time we lived there we had no door spraying issues even after the dogs got old and died. I would go out every week or two depending on rain fall. Here in Florida my wife has currently attracted between 15 and 20 cats combined (inside and out) I have three spots I hit the front porch and both front and rear doors of my garage. Once in a while they will hit around the back door of my garage but when it happens I haven't marked that area in quite a while.

Cats hate moth balls. I put them in the plants in the house. The cats use to eat the plants, now they stay away from them. By the way, I love cats.

I've had cats crapping in my garage of late. Perhaps I'll try doing MY thing near where they tend to do it.

Sprinkle powered Cheyenne pepper all around the area, it will make them go else were & won't hurt them, they don't like to sniff the stuff, it works for dogs also...

We had some cats that loved to climb on the screen door.  Sprinkled cayenne pepper around the door and that did nothing, took a spray bottle with water in it and sprayed them when they jumped on the screen that didn't keep them off.   Dumped the cayenne pepper in with the water bottle still did nothing to keep them off the screen.  We have lots of coyotes in our area think they took care of them.  Kids weren't happy that the cats were gone but the screen door was.

My wife wants a Corgi, neat dogs, they are bred to herd, it doesnt suprise me about the cats. We used to have Red Healers another herding dog. Our first one hated cats or any other animal.  It was great, living on a farm you get lots of critters that become pest.  We didnt have any pests around, it was great.  I took a tractor down the driveay one evening and he followed me, we live on a dead end road somebody was driving way too fast on a gravel road and hit him.

Really? Both my cats love oranges. Jasper will drink orange juice if I give him some and Hemi gnaws on the pealls like a dog will a rawhide chew.

cats spray my orange and grapefruit trees. I pick all lower fruit when small and compost it so they don't spray it and it lets the upper fruit grow better.
