Welcome aboard!    Your car caught my eye as those '68 383 4-speed cars are sort of my passion. But only sort of.  :icon_smile_wink:

As far as the tail panel finish take a look at these threads. Use the search function also to increase your knowledge.

Originally it was one finish (organosol) if it was built in Michigan (Hamtramck) and another (black low gloss enamel) if in Missouri (St Louis). If you still have the fender tag post a pic and I'll (we'll) decode it.   :2thumbs:

Dan - I posted a pic of the fender-tag. I found this car in Modesto garaged sinse 1980. Apparently the guy I got it from got It from his mons boyfriend. He bought it not running the original owner kept track of all his mileage in a little notebook and he stopped keeping track in 1979 last entry was 8gallons 79,854 miles. I bought the car with just over 80,000 miles on the odometer.

The fender tag says it shoul have black interior but as you can see it came with red. Also I found an RT build sheet in the back seat.
So somebody went throug allot of trouble switching it to red interior from the center console to the seat belts but they left the dash black.
Now the trunk vin matches the vin on the dash as well as the engine. So I'm just tryin to bring it all back the way it was originally
I should have the car done with paint in the next few weeks.
As well as the Gauges silk screened and all the bezels plasic chromed.
Unfortuenatly as I'm sure you guys know this shit is so super expensive to do once I get the car from paint it will prob be a little while longer till I can afford to put it all back togather

And advise from anyone would be appreciated.
Thank you
