Remember, back then the true Street racers didn't want any kind of I.D. to tip off what they were running( unlike today) so alot of cars were stripe delete.Especially E-bodies.I remember very ,very few with hockey sticks and maybe a handful with Billboards. Now everything has to have Stripes .Guys even pryed the engine nameplates off the body. Also, that is why you see alot of column shift auto cars. The street guys could shift them quicker and thought consoles were heavy and tacky looking.Musclecars started out as a few hi-po options for guys who were serious about going fast and by the late 60's and early 70's was a fad.

That guy Max who was the stunt coordinator, stated in a 1985 Muscle Car Review article, that the only mods to the Charger were suspension mods, and that the Charger, ran rings around the modified Mustang,in stock form! He stated that aside from the suspension mods to The Mustang,it also had a high performance cam,and lifters,a Holley carb,an aftermarket aluminum intake manifold, headders, and a Hurst shifter!
