It's not that I don't like the Cardinals, being it's a Misery state and all.  But seeings how they've already won a title I'd like to see Texas win.  That & I used to enjoy watching Nolan Ryan play.

Bigger question though, will St. Louis be able to keep Pujols?  Yankees already have Texiera playing 1B with A-Rod heading to DH pretty soon.  Red Sox have Gonzalez & Ortiz as DH, although his contract is up.   I've read where the Florida Marlins are gonna spend big $$ this winter bringing in top free agents to help sell seats for the new stadium, name change & new manager.  Sabathia opted out of his contract as well.  Rangers top starter Wilson is a free agent as well.

Should be lots of movement this winter.

I understand your point the cards have won 10 world series to date.  I would love to see them make it 11 in 11.  I think Pujols will stay if they win.  He was offered 32 million a year for 6 years and said he wanted 37 for 10.  I love the cardinals but don't believe anyone is worth that kinda money.  He is 38.  I doubt he will be as productive as he is now at the age of 48 :Twocents:

Problem is unless you're the Yankees or Red Sox you'll have all your payroll devoted to one player.

Look how it worked out for Texas when Seattle shipped A-Rod there.  The Rangers are still paying part of his salary, that's the crazy part.

San Diego supposedly is interested in Red Sox SP John Lackey...only if the Sox continue paying a majority of his salary though.   :rotz:

If Cards do lose Albert, I'd rather see them spend $ on strength up the middle, I miss Oz's D and Renteria's clutch hitting. Plus pulling second basemen off the scrap heap has gotten old or playing them out of position(OF @ 2nd).

I don't know it would take me a little time to warm up to Prince at first base.  If we lose pujols, we have Berckman who has originaly was afirst basemen.  That money could be used for both middle defense and closing pitching.

Did I say Albert wasn't worth it?  He just hit his 3rd home run in one World series game.  That has only been done by Babe ruth and Reggie Jackson!  He is pretty good!
