Drivers side front LH pan removal ??

I have cut the old pan along the tunnel and right before the seat mounts (replacing w/half pan).

So, how is the pan connected along the front (firewall)?
I saw one weld spot, but nothing else, it was on the left side foot rest area.

What should I coat the under side with, i.e. what protects it best?
