That looks very nice. I like the package tray as well. The typical black tray gets old.

QuoteFor those who are building a Vega rear window Daytona – this is very important to do – that is - by adding this black trim, as new cars use, helps to hide the inside trim and black rope that will look really ugly from the outside. This step cleans it up really good.

Yep   :yesnod: been on my list of things to do . is that painted on?

Electrical tape... Just kidding. It is tape - body striping.

The lid was the wrong kind of HEMI orange plus it was a terrible paid job. Now it is the same HEMI orange as the engine and is a sheet of glass - ready for the 572 HEMI decal. Hood install and air filter base fitment - next.

Thank guy for the comps...

It is always hard to drill 4 holes in a perfectly good quarter panel :)
I, for the first time lost it with a parts supplier. I ordered my interior door panels from one company that were defective and it took me two months to get my money back. I ordered from a different company that went through Legendary, that then sent me upper door pads from them. I just lost it. I want my car done. I get really tired of complete incompetence. Now, I went through Classic and they don't have the front panels, but do have the rear. Where to now? Got to get the front door panels – they are the 70 Deluxe door panels. Will I have to stoop and lower myself and bend over and order from Year One?

Missed a spot on the center piece of the wing - will be bolted up tomorrow.

I polished the Allen bolts – this will make the wing even more aerodynamic and slip through the air.

When should we expect the first drive? :popcrn: :popcrn: :popcrn:

In the next month. I still have to cut half the car - so a lot of little detail yet to do.

Dane, the use of the flash on the camera really changes the color of the car.   The color is closer to Petty Blue correct?

Also what is the material you used behind the door panels as the vapor barrier I assume?

The flash washes the color out. I'm not a fan of Petty Blue - so I went out of my way for it not to be that color. This is 3 steps darker - next to grabber blue this is yet that much darker. In the sun though it will wash out any blue so who knows. Kinda like Ralley Red - in the sun can appear orange.

That matireal is very cool. I found it a Loues - made out of the same matireal as dynomat - without the aluminum backing.

Looks great Dane!!! I have a question though, why no wing upright gaskets?
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Thanks man - I don't like'm. To me, they don't look clean with a black gasket there - it breaks up the clean color flow. That's just me. Black wings are not as noticeable. Also, not finished - the quarters will suck up and seal very nice - My gaskets are there - but they are not noticeable.

So, why no console?  Installing a buddy seat or just leaving the space empty?

Dave Kanofsky

I apologize if this was mentioned before - what's with the 500 emblem on the tailpanel?

BTW - the car is absolutely gorgeous.

More because I like the offset style - and the fact of homologation rules requires 500 Daytonas to be made. Also that the Daytona was the next step after the 69 500 - a tribute to the progress. Plus it will be kind of fun to see some people think I used a 500 to build the Daytona. It is fun to hear all the theories people have when they look at your car. But the bottom line is I love the offset Badge. Glad you noticed :)

Out of the 11 Daytonas I have done, my first had the buddy seat. I really missed it. I am always looking to do something different. Kind of got tired of the flimsy console, and wanting some openness up front.

As to the 500 - I kind of like the thing there. They made 500 Daytonas (homologation), so it does fit the build. Keep in mind I'm not trying to fool anyone here, as to this being a real Daytona. To me it just represents the 500 Daytonas made (not that mine is one of them). Thanks for asking.

These are premature pics – the car is not completed or detailed. It is dirty and dusty and not cut yet. Aa lot of little detail yet to do. Windshield will be put in on Monday. Still a month away from completion.
