I hadn't heard that one before, and coming from the Corvette world, I thought I had heard them all.. I mean, after all, by 24, I was in the midst of a mid-life crisis, had no self-esteem, and (apparently) had a tiny penis that I needed to make up for in a car.

Did it work?   ;) :nana:

Yes!! I woke up the morning after buying the car and resembled Ron Jeremy!!

I'd say my initial opinion would tip towards yes, and here's why:

-I'm not from the south, so my background would predispose me to at least unconciously link the south with all those prejudices, even if unfounded.
-By themselves, I wouldn't make any link, but the combination of skeleton/reaper, confederate flag, scythe, blood on the scythe, and what at least appears (to me) to be part of the US flag being chewed on make for a compelling combination.
-The initial message I get from seeng the tat is "The South shall rise again, it'll be violent/bloody, and the target is the US"...and in my own experience I haven't seen messages like that coming from non-racist sources.

Keep in mind that the appearance of this tat wouldn't cause me to close the door on forming an opinion about this person.  I try not to judge people like that...but, not given any other input about them to work with, that's where I'd end up.

Well...I think the artwork is great.  No problem with the Confederate flag.  In fact I think some sort of sleeve of a torn confederate flag done by that artist would look phenomenal and I'm a Red Sox fan...[can't bear to call myself a Yankee ;-) under any circumstances ].

The grim reaper?  Not my bag.  Unlikely to see one in my work place (drug company) and unlikely to be viewed positively by coworkers.  I have thought about getting a tattoo...perhaps a 60's Dodge symbol...or a compass rose as I sail....but nothing wild.  You need to be careful what you get as a tattoo.  There was an Irish guy on the roofing crew who had a tattoo of a Unicorn...the other guys used to tease him that he likely got it by getting drunk and waking up with the tattoo and a sore butt   :smilielol:

Just to clarify, I'm not bashing tattoos (I have a couple myself), but merely the nature of the tattoos themselves. It's all about the artwork itself, and to me the one in the OP is just tacky. And thus I would assume that the person sporting it has tacky taste.

It's like a 69 Charger. We all agree that the car itself is one of the best looking cars ever. But then there's Chris (6T9)'s Charger, and then you have a 4x4 General Lee with fat girl mudflaps.  See what Im getting at?

Cool. So we've established he would be jobless, educationless, brainless, friendless, and hopeless. The poor bastard probably will never get laid either.

Jobless?  Doubtful.  I'm sure he'd have a job somewhere, just not where I'd have to deal with him.
