73 Charger shifter ??

A friend of mine has a 73 RoadRunner with push button shifter (stock) we tried to fix it and it is still screwing up !   He also has a 73 charger they look the same , are they the same in any other car and or were can he get one that works-he has looked yearone and etc. Any help-thanks!

We found one at Clay's today and found out the previous owner modified the one that was in the car !
