WHITE AND RED 69

When I got the car the trunk had no rust but was rough looking so I gave it a cheap paint job and moved on. It always bugged me so I tore out all the dynamat(what a bitch!   :brickwall:), stripped off all the old paint and sealed it all up properly. Gave it a coat of white paint and then added dynamat again. Now it looks exactly as it did but at least now I don't have the old shame of the cheap flat black paint and there is protection from any future rust.

Don't know why I keep the spare? The brakes are bigger than the rim.    I guess it just looks cool.   :shruggy:

As for the the engine compartment I finally got my new aluminum radiator installed. It barely fit but it's in there. Repainted the grill support for a nice gloss look. Cleaned up the front suspension and wheels as well. Haven't cleaned the back sides of the wheels in quite a while, so it was nice to see them shine again. Also added new braided transmission cooler lines but ran into a fitment issue so I'm just waiting on a some new an fittings and it should be back on the road by next weekend. Soon as it's all back together I will post up some comments on all the new stuff.    I haven't driven it in weeks and it's killing me!    :icon_smile_angry:

Clayton,

You have to be running out of things to do to this car. . . . I will tell you what I will do, send me your car and I will send you mine. Feel free to do any improvements and updates to mine.  Then in a year or two. . .  or five, we can switch back.  I just hate to see you get bored.

As always very nice car, love it.  :2thumbs:

Looking fantastic as always, Clayton!

I got a spare in mine, too. Waste of trunk space considering it would be useless if I ever got a flat.
There was a thread I think on Moparts where a member used a late model spare out of a Ford/Lincoln IIRC. It was a semi-space saver spare with a larger diameter aluminum wheel. It would work with the bigger brakes, and fit in the trunk nicely.

Thanks Tim. Bored...never. When the day comes where I have nothing left to do, it will be time to get a 68.  :coolgleamA:   Just send me yours and I'll take good care of it. It will look perfect next to mine in the garage.    ;D

Thanks Bill. Yeah I don't even trust my spare even if it would fit. I guess I just like the look of it in the trunk? I'll have to check out that thread. I've been wanting to get another 18x8 Intro wheel but I don't think I could bring myself to spend $500 bucks for a spare?    :shruggy:

Yeah, I can't justify spending that on another Foose wheel for a spare, either. I don't even have a jack in my trunk. So it's AAA if I get stuck, but at least I'd have a usable spare.
I found the Moparts thread here:
http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=QuestionAnswer&Number=7173007&fpart=1&PHPSESSID=

They're not the prettiest things, but they get the job done. I have a nice spare cover my upholster stitched up for me, matches the black covered subs and trim in the trunk.

I love pictures of your car. not to many white 69's around so this one gives me a good idea how mine will look when painted. (I'm going for white with red stripe and red interior).

By the looks of your pictures you have some nice stuff in your suspention to. How does she handle with that Hotchkis & Baer  parts?

you have any idle videos?

How did you hide the red power wire to battery?  Such a clean setup......

Love the way it handles   :icon_smile_big:  The car is stable as a rock on the road, doesn't wander at higher speeds, and the brakes with the hydroboost are amazing! With the firm feel box the steering is a lot more precise as well.

My goal in the near future is to start doing some autocrossing and get to Thunderhill race track here in northern California and see how well it does at speed. Then I will know really how well all these parts work together.   :icon_smile_cool:

I didn't really hide any of the wires, it's all just wrapped in powerbraid wiring looms so it all blends together.

Only video I have is from a few years ago when I switched exhaust setups. I guess it's time to invest in a GoPro camera and get some new videos.

Was going to switch air cleaners but this one just wouldn't fit with the electric choke.  :brickwall:  I liked it though. It went well with the valve covers and radiator.   :'(

You can adjust the air cleaner by cutting a hole in it to clear the choke and welding it shut with new material.  It can be polished afterwards and it would look stock.  It looks right at home in there so I'd consider doing this.

What size loom did you use?  I know you gave me the link to that stuff but can't find the thread now.  It looks real good and I may do the same.

Yeah I'm debating cutting it. I will sit on it for a few days and try to decide. I do like it.

As for the looms, I used mainly 1/4", 1/2", and 3/4". Painless just came out with a new classic braid line that is more of a fabric. Looks cool but is expensive. I might get a roll of the 1/2" to see how it is.

Pricey yes but they sure look nice!

Would you have anything to lose by doing the air cleaner mod?  I think it looks stellar myself.  Of course, you could get rid of that choke... :D   :nana:

I think that's the same stuff I used on my '69 as well to cover up the audio cables.
Yes, it's pricier than that crappy plastic convoluted stuff, but it looks much MUCH better!  :yesnod:
