Got my ass kicked by a Charger!

Met up with Eldon (Back N Black) at a car show. He suggested I park next to him so I did. Well...the crowds formed around BOTH cars!
Dodge Boys ruled the show.
Someone asked which car was faster?
I said: "My Challenger with 3:92 gears and traction control would be faster off the line, but the Charger with that built 440 would storm by me in short time".

After the show, on a straight stretch we lined up and did the deed!

And it went exactly as expected...only thing I didn't anticipate was the ROAR of the 440 next to me! (And the HOWLING of the tires!)
I kept hitting my rev limiter and not shifting!! I couldn't hear my engine!

Might have been a much closer race if my window was up - and I quit gawking at the Charger!!  :icon_smile_big:

Cool story and pictures.  Cunfused as to who was the winner up front?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

A set of 275/60 M/T Drag radials and a sticky track will take care of that sideways action !  :icon_smile_big:

Great story. Most 440's of the world would take second place paired up with a new Challenger. Obviously that one was well built 440 ;)

The new Challenger is a very capable [and mean] machine. :2thumbs:

firefighter3931

In all fairness the Challenger R/T is heavier and is giving up 100 cubes and probably 120-130hp to Eldon's car so it should lose  :yesnod:

At the track with sticky tires the margin of victory would be even more dramatic  ;)

I spanked an SRT8 Challenger pretty badly with the 446 and it was all over after the first 60ft...at 200ft he was solidly in the rear view mirror and getting smaller as the run progressed !  :icon_smile_big:

The SRT ran a low 13 and i was running high 11's at the time....

Ps. I like that Purple Challenger and would love to have one  :2thumbs:

I was thinking "most 440"s" (basicially stock) ...and certainly not a well built Ron 440!

You are correct....I also run a six-speed verses his automatic, plus I had two people in my car verses one in his.
I anticipated a spanking, and it came to pass.
