Removing Trunk Lid "Springs"?

How do I remove the trunk lid springs (2 criss-crossed bars) that apply tension to the arms that hold the trunk lid?

Remove the end that pushes on the trunk arm. Take out the square bushing then twist the spring down like closing the trunk lid while pulling it out of the notch in the support. 

You could probably make a little cheater bar with two spaced prongs or tabs to help torque the spring

Yeah, you can push them out with you fingers.
