I am a mopar man 100%....in your estimates would be make more power all things equal...9.1 compression, 280cam stock heads equal intakes, headers etc (average street motor)...no aftermarket heads just basic bolt ons...

Given the same car, same weight, same gears and same tire/wheel combo I suspect it would be a draw.  :shruggy:

By 454 do you mean a.030 over stroked 400 0r a .080 over 440 ?   :smilielol:

What year?
After 1970 the 454 started loosing its ass in HP and torque.

I will bet the 440 will win the drag race. MOPAR motors love to make low end torque.

Its apples to oranges. The "stock" specs on both engines vary a great deal from year to year. Then you race a 2 ton charger against a much lighter chevelle and expect what??? They are both pushrod v8's worhty to bear the name "american muscle" and have earned my respect

PEAK power numbers may give the advantage to the cheb ?
however,
if the question is which would be FASTER, moving the same given "load" during a timed acceleration trial,
DEFINATELY,
the mopar would prevail due to the greater "area under the curves" in both Torque & Horsepower exhibited, or "sliced off" during the trial,
all things being equal of course.

This has been tried and PROVEN many times over the years.
Peak numbers mean "squat", because in any RACE, it is "time spent" at whatever higher "average" that gets there first,
every time !
and that would be the 440 due to the better bottom end geometry, and larger 2.08 mopar intake valve on the smaller head.(cheb 2.06)
