I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

That's the one that was recommended to me. I have it and it's pretty well written and illustrated.  :2thumbs:

i have a 69 hp motor at my friends machine shop . i've decided to assemble it myself . i've done several but that was a long time ago . i figure the book would be a smart move on my part .

I'm looking locally for a good core for a build too. I'm in no hurry, mine runs fine...just thought it would be a fun project  :yesnod:  :2thumbs:

i got lucky with this motor. i have 6 440 motors in my garage. all hp motors . so i got plenty of cores. then my friend calls me that there knocking down a house and there's a Chrysler  motor in  the garage, do i want it . i ran over there and there was this 69 440 motor sitting on a crappy stand with a piece of wood holding the stand from collapsing . it looked promising . cause it had a lot of hp parts on it  8 quart oil pan mallory dis, chrome valve covers and holley carb. so i grabbed it . when i took it apart it looked brand new inside , i can see the cross hatch marks on the cylinder walls and no cylinder top ridge. all the bearings look  new but its been run . so i gave it to my friend with the machine shop . he's gonna boil the block and check all the internals . then i will reassemble. this has to be a low budget build. cause i have a sixpack motor coming out of the rebuilding shop for my daytona . so i can't sink big bucks into this one. i'm not even sure where this motor will end up .  i just couldn't pass this one by.

hey

this motor doesn't have many miles on it . all the bearings look new and the crank looks perfect .even the top of the pistons don't have much carbon on them  .
i found out why they pulled it. the cam is wiped out . i guess nobody told them that  you have  to break a cam in when you start a new motor.
