Hopefully it's ok to ask this question here since it's not a REAL tech question. I'm looking for opinions and experiences with buying an engine custom built. If you have dealt with Ray   Barton, Speed-o-Motive, Indy Cylinder Head, or any other big name builder i'd like to hear what you have to say. Things like pricing, customer contact, getting the engine done when they said they would, warrenty etc. I'm not intersted in pulling the original block and carving it up. It will sit in the garage and a new engine will take it's place.  ???

www.moparengineswest.com   Rich Nedbal rebuilt my 440.   Great job.   Pump gas and awesome performance.   Check the website.   He did use my block, and that's not what you asked for.   The cost and turn-around ran over by about 1/3, partially due to some upgrades I got along the way. Got about 1500 miles on it now.  Hope to drive it to Vegas in March.

850 DEMON, Edelbrock Performer, MSD etc.   All ahead of a Keisler-Tremec   5 speed.   Sweet ride.

well i hope speedomotive is good because i just spent a small fortune on a 496 stroker motor. i had talked with a couple drag racers that i know and they said only good things about them. and i called there shop and personally spoke with august the engine builder who is a huge mopar guy! and we talked for about thirty minutes about what i wanted and what i was going to do with the car and he said he would build the perfect motor for what i needed to make my charger tear up the strip and have vacuum for lights and power brakes.he seemed like a really nice guy and he cut me a brake on a few things.pretty good deal when you look at prices for a run of the mill mopar crate motor.

Well the shop I work at - we build engines....    but we're not a "big name" by any means  ---  anyway...    I  dont have any experience ordering turn key engines from anyone but we did get some stuff from 440source.com and it turned out great with lots of help from the guys there...
