Pre-perforated ballots.  I only have 60 classes.

The same as Sunbust?

Yes, we are using a voting system similar to that of Sunbust.

It might be fun to just show up early to watch the 2006 "Charger" owners get turned away from parking in the group of real Chargers.

I don't see very many 06 chargers getting brought to the show.  Last year, I only had 2 Magnums show up and they are kind of cool looking.

What about the Chargers of the late 70's, or even the Chargers from 83-87? Are you excluding them as well?

There aactually would have been a separate class for them if I remember correctly... something like '75 and up RWD as a misc. category since not many of those show up.  One member has two 4th gens I believe.

I think it would be neat to have a set up with a Charger there from every year they made one. Whether some people like the new cars or not, just as many didn't like the 80's FWD cars either. But they all are Chargers. Just my opinion.

On this I agree.

Commemorate just the "classic" ones?  If this be the case then there should be a special display of '66s only...

I wouildn't really say there are 6 generations of "Chargers" as some, there are:

* ...classic Chargers from 66-74.
* Cordobas.
* '80s 4 cyl...etc..
* and the 2006 Sedan.

....with the 2006 taking it's main motivation and styling from a Cordoba type car, with relative power to that available in classic Chargers.

Yes they are all cars named Charger, made by Dodge, but there is clear lines between them. With the classics having the further distinction of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen -- but an obvious physical relationship, recognition and bloodline between them all.

Just my 2 cents.

5.9_Liter_Grand_Cherokee

Okay, I have classes set up for 66 - 67 Chargers, 68 - 70 Chargers, 71 - 74, 75 - 78 Chargers, & 83 - 87 Chargers.  And here is my reasoning for this.  I have a preferforated ballot that has 60 Classes on it.  In these 60 Classes, I have to appease the A-body guys, the B-body guys, the E-body guys, The truck guys, The P/T Cruiser Crowd, ETC...  I really don't anticipate that I will be seeing that many 06 Chargers, but, if they show up, I will probably park them with the other Chargers.  Just like the F-Body Road Runners will be included in 2008 when the Road Runner name turns 40.  I know that there will be people who don't agree with my thinking, but the 06 is a Charger in name, and I am honoring the 40th anniversary of the name.

EDIT:  The Chargers will be parked together by class, so, all the first gens in a row, followed by the second gens (stock then modified), the third gens, the 'Doba-Chargers, The Omni-chargers, and then the 06's if any show up.  But, Like I said, I don't think there will be any of the '06 Coronets there.  Join us again next year for the 40th anniversary of the GTX.  i'm sure i can hack someone else off next year too.

Maybe you could post a scan of the flyer?

I haven't gotten the artwork back from the graphic artist yet, but as soon as it is back I will be posting it.

Alright, thanks for the headsup.  I will go to that.  About fifteen minute drive from W. Seattle.     That Aug. 6 Dodge Charger show was fun, seeing some awesome cars and meeting some people from the site.
  Hey Dan, are you going to this?  (8WHEELER)   or TripleGreen?

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

You bet I will be there, I will be helping out with the show and whatever Chris wants me to do, looks
like taking pictures, that's fine by me, I just got another new camera and would love to put it to good use.
You will have your pic of green chargers for sure, TrippleGreen and the Lizard I am sure will be there, and
a slew of other 2nd gens for sure. I really hope we get a better 1st gen turn out this year. Fastback Jon
need cash for gas  ;D but I hope he can some how pull it off, It would be great to have a guy with the
knowledge of 1st gens be there for this event. I also hope A383wing brings all three of his Chargers, that
would bring two more first gens to the show, and a purple car with a big towel rack holder on the back  ;D

Have you guys thought about the D-C.com meet for this year yet?

As TK mentioned, I can use some help with the show.  Bryan and Rose have offered to work on Parking for the Charger Section.  I will be needing some volunteers to assist them.  I hope that nobody has to volunteer for more than 2 hours, because I want everyone to be able to enjoy the show.

Oh, so basically the spectators will get to see the evolution as they walk along starting with the '66's, from the very best CHARGER going down to the very worst "charger".

:icon_smile_tongue:

I was really thinking about driving my '66 440 Charger over there. The '67 383 gets better gas mileage, but it is in primer, not all pretty. The R/T is too built up for the track for me to want to drive it on a long trip. But I'm not as enthusiastic now that it sounds like the four door cars might be included in parking with the Chargers. That's just adding insult to injury.

The Cordoba Chargers and Omni Chargers don't bother me as much I think because I wasn't around back then, and besides, all of the car manufacturers were selling crappy cars back then. It isn't like today, where they had the opportunity to build a cool retro car (like that new mustang), but instead they went on their own path and told us that retro cars were stupid and that us musclecar people didn't matter because we were all "old timers" and were "stuck in the past", and that two door cars don't sell well but we're still going to rape the Charger and Hemi names for all they are worth.

...which begs the question, if all the Chargers get to park together, do all the Hemi cars get to park together? From the first '51's to the Hemi Cudas, to the K-cars with the Hemi badges, right up to the Hemi Rams and Magnums? lol Hey, they are all Hemis with Hemi emblems right? Therefore they should be parked together. The guy with the '85 Hemi K-car has just as much of a right to be proud of his Hemi K-car as the guy with the '69 Hemi Daytona.

:haha:   :slap:

Anyhow... I still might show up. It would really be nice if I could find someone to split gas costs for the Charger. I can afford the gas no problem, just don't like paying for it. Oh, and the 2007 show could be the 40th anniversary of the R/T too. Or did everybody just forget about the Coronet?

;D

Puuhhleezze Jon, your belly aching about the new Charger sure gets old.   Shows are meant to have fun and no one wants to listen to someone complain all day.
Everyone's so damn worried about where they're gonna park the new ones, park it next to mine.  I don't give a shit, it's only a car. :icon_smile_big:

chargerless, it sounds like a lot of fun.  There'll be a bunch of us heading up as usual.  The next car club meeting I go to, I'll try and get you a number on how many, and what year Chargers we bring. :thumbs:

;D

I haven't forgotten about the Coronet, but the Coronet name was introduced in 1949.  So, the nameplate will be turning 60 in 2009.  The Aspen, Volare, and Imperial also have Anniversaries this year, but I can't honor everything with special recognition, so I have to go with the biggest draw, and this year that is the Charger.
