...and do you remember what you did with it?

Mine was a 1965 Ford stepside pickup bought from my father in 1976 for $300. It was so rusty the body was barely attached. I performed my first burnout within minutes of the first drive in that truck       ...and I don't remember what happened to it... ::)

Embarrassing to talk about this

Mine was a 1979 Ford mustang. My dad bought it with my money and gave it to me like it was a present of some kind.  I beat the crap out of it and had to work on it constantly and eventually I sold it for $300 and drove it to the guys house, cracked heads and all.

The car I wanted was a 65 Mustand with a 289 and a three on the floor. The guy wanted $2,100 for it.  $200 less than what was paid for the POS my dad bought.

Good riddance

Road Dog

I remember mine. I put the car cover over it last weekend after a drive. :icon_smile_big:

1968 Charger !!!!! Green on Green on Green. 318.

Drove the hell out of it, bought in 1973 as a HS junior for $700 with 90,000 miles, and sold it in 1979 after college for $1100 with 225,000 of the hardest miles you ever saw.

The 318 belongs in the Engineering Hall of Fame. Great memories.

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.  ~A. Einstein

Mine was given to my from my grandfather who figured it was time to stop driving. I was a 1967 Chevy Bel Air 4 door with a 283, 2spd tranny. When I got it, it had 76,000 miles on it in 1980 with minor rust. I beat it pretty hard, and it took it. Had a lot of fun with it. I ended up selling it for a '73 Mustang Grande.

If this one was a 4 door, it would look exactly like my first car. Mine was the same color. Although, on mine, I put body color matching Camaro wheels with the big "Top Hat" cones and trim rings and air shocks to jack it up a little. I also pinstriped the car. Unfortunately, I have no pics of it looking like I had it when I got rid of it. Actually looked pretty good.

I would love to find a decent restorable 4 door now again.

Charger of course. F8 green, 318, column shift, black vinyl roof, black bucket interior. Picked it up for $150, when I was 15, had it driving for a total investment of of a new timing chain. Kept it for 5 years, sold it to a guy for $1000 who promptly totaled it into the side of a transit bus.

Mine was a '69 Dodge Charger. It was White with a Black vinyl roof and Black interior. The drivetrain consisted of the 318/automtic combo, 4 wheel drum brakes, and power steering. It also had the 6 way driver seat and locking gas cap (which I still have). I only owned it for 1 year as it constantly broke on me and my minimum wage salary couldn't keep up with the repair bills.
1969 Dodge Charger 318/automatic - Gone and sorely missed.

I thought I'd share another little story. My younger brother's first car was a Datsum 510 that he bought for $100.
He ended up painting it Barbeque flat black. When the front seat anchors gave out, he wedged a 2x4 from the back seat to the back of the front seat. Called it his lumbar (lumber) support. Back bumper was held on by chicken wire.
He ended up giving it to me when I blew the engine on my 75 Buick Century. Classic!!

ralley72

1969 Dodge Charger in 1977.  Painted some kind of blue, every time i washed it the  water in my bucket turned blue. 318 floor shift with black interior. Someone put a 4 bbl intake and carb on it, and it ran great. Paid $ 175.00 for it, sold it for $ 700.00 to buy another 1969 318 car from the original owner. Both long gone. picture of car number 2
