For those that have kids I was wondering what you did concerning seat belts and booster seats. My boy is 4 years and 4 months and well within booster seat limits. Do the shoulder belts on these cars fit for this. If the belt doesn't lay across my son's shoulder correctly what are my options.
I'm gonna see how he fits this weekend. The truck is adjustible so should be no problem.

We still have the 5 point harness type booster seat for our 4 yr old daughter.  We secure that in the back seat with the lap belt and then buckle her into booster seat.

Best way to go without rear shoulder belts...

I have him in a seat with the 5 pt harness now. His head is abit above the seat I have him in now.I have to check the weight limit. He's a big boy near 45 lbs.

I have had my son riding in our Charger for years in a booster seat. He rides in the back seat with the lap belt tightened up over his lap.

I thought about that. Heck we didn't even wear seat belts growing up. :shruggy: The seats he uses now are 40 lbs max. He weighs more than that . The booster works great with the seat belt in the truck. Not sure how Momma would feel about the backseat with a lap belt.

I catch my Mom reaching out whenever she hits the brakes to this day.  ;)

Lap belts work great for holding the car seat in.   The lap/shoulder belts work fine with the forward facing seats for the bigger kids.  Might check your state laws but in Kansas the lap belts are fine legal and fine for the bigger kids and they dont require a booster or front facing seat.

I used to use the 5-pt seat with my oldest son, but he's too big now & has outgrown it. I took him out for the first time with just the booster in the back with the lap belt. Seemed to work OK.

I used to ride around on the package tray in my mom's old Caddy Fleetwood when I was a kid. Used to love it when she slammed on the brakes so I could plop on the huge sofa-like back seat. I'm amazed I'm still here.

I would not use a booster with a lap belt only. Its not needed.  A booster is to get the child up higher in the seat for the shoulder harness to be positioned properly on the child.  If they sit in the back seat of these old Mopars the lap belt is legal in Kansas. If they sit up front in the passenger seat that have to legally wear the lap/shoulder and then they will need the normal front facing seat or booster. As least with the seat type you can run the shoulder portion thru the eyelet on the upper side to get it positioned were it needs to be on the child.

Yeah , I was reading the NC law and it said I could place him in the rear with no booster with a properly fitted lap belt and not to use booster with the lap belt only.
