Hi Jake,

Must say that your ride looks fantastic.  I have a Y4 also and, while it is nowhere near as sharp as yours, I'm quite taken with as a colour.  Thing is though mine has had a respray at some point and the gold appears much darker.  How close to the original colour is your respray? (I prefer yours as it lifts the car and gives that litheness which is hard to get in a full body whereas mine seems heavy and rather drab).

Cheers Simon

Jake

Thanks for the kudos guys.

Simon- I sprayed a test panel using the same code from three different paint manufacturers. Each one was very different due to the metallic count and size. I took my test panel out in sun at different times of the day. I chose the one that looked true y4 to me. It is base clear, with plenty of clear. maybe that is why in comparing it to yours it may appear to have more of a shine?

Hi Jake,

Thanks very much for your reply; sorry I've been tardy in replying except that it has been over 100 the past 3 days and I couldn't face sitting in front of a hot computer.  I would have enjoyed the a/c in my Charger except that it is still in the workshop.  Would you mind sharing the details of the paint manufacturer as mine will need a respray and I am so impressed with the way yours has turned out.  I really like the cars to look as they did in period, some people don't and that is cool, but if I could get mine to turn out half as nice as yours I'd be a happy man.

Cheers Simon

Hello Simon, Thanks again for the kind words.  The manufacturer was PPG. However if you are going for circa correct look the base clear extreme shine look may not be what the factory produced. I would think one would want a much more dull look. I suggest you start a new thread and ask folks how to get an original paint look. Maybe a single stage will get you what you are looking for. Thanks again for the KUDOS, be well.
