Wire from O'reilly

I did an ammeter bypass on the charger last spring but didn't make the hard connections and left the wire ends dangling, upon stripping the "new" wire, I found that six plus inches of the wire was RUSTED badly!

I had cut the big black wire on the original 42 year old harness at the same time I did the bypass, upon stripping, the old wire was in perfect condition with no signs of corrosion

I strongly suggest that anyone doing or has done wiring in their car, do a quick snip and see what I suspect could be a huge problem down the road

I plan on ripping out the wire and getting some stuff that is made here in the USA

This is the second time I have heard of copper "flashed" steel wire from china (steel wire with a very thin copper plating).

Gotta start checking new wire with a magnet I guess.
I've also seen what appeared to be nice heavy gauge copper jumper cables that were actually copper flashed aluminum.
