All in all this is a horrible thing...     I work at LAX and we had the whole look out for tidal waves thing...

Just goes to show everyone exactly how small we really are - I'm almost anxious to see the results - after the last large on the shape of the earth changed...    the days are technically longer, the earthquake was measured as far away as Wyoming...

why would you make fun of such a terrible thing. many dead many homeless. people in a bad way. and you make jokes. sorry i have a great sence of humor. but not this. cant even imagine what there going threw. lost or dead loved ones. not knowing whats gonna happen. be glad we have what we have and are not there. jokes no not at this time. japan is not a bad place and the people are very nice. as for my self I will not joke about this instead i will hope for better days for the people of japan. please put yourself in there place and see if any jokes come to mind. just a thought :shruggy: :shruggy: :shruggy:

I few remarks made about the cars? nothing meant in a bad way like "Ha ha 1000's dead" Nobody's joking about that  ::)

I am not fond of nuclear power myself. I dont know why they cant figure out how to use methane. We got enough cows around the world. Even got my oldest son for that.

Woke up to hear of the Tsunami...called only relative left in Hawaii...they knew and they were sleeping...oops! Didn't realize they had been told about it at 10pm their time. Very little damage to Hawaii. So all are fine. The Japanese builders have been building for earthquakes for years and they do a very good job at it. The reactors are built for earthquakes but not of the magnitude. nor the extended aftershocks. I have a hard time believing that they had that many reactors in such a small area. There are other ways to make power that would be more earth friendly; especially living on a small island. Japan shifted and sunk a little according to reports...this can only hinder the situation. Let's hope that the leak at the reactor doesn't make Godzilla really happen. Not making light of this situation at all. With everything still shaking there are some brave souls working to keep the meltdowns from happening. May God be with them and all the people of Japan.

There was a 3rd explosion now at the number 2 reactor at the one plant, which makes it all three reactors now that suffered explosions. The guy on CNN says worst case scenario, this would be Russia's Chernobyl x3 :o :rotz:

At minimum, it would be Tree Mile Island x3 :icon_smile_blackeye: Either way, it's looking very grim now.

Europe, as usual has beat "Yobama" as you call him. to it...

I feel bad, but they deserved it in a way. They spear dolphins until they can no longer scream out in pain. There is no point in eating dolphin meat anyway, its high in Mercury. I believe since they speared thousands and thousands of dolphins in the ocean, the ocean came back and gave them a piece of their own medicine. This natural disaster can actually stop dolphin hunting for a while, thank GOD. <3

Hey Brock -  please don't take this the wrong way - I understand why you feel the way you do and i somewhat agree but honestly - I don't think ANYONE deserves something like this to happen to them....       :Twocents:

No Nuclear power down here (New Zealand) and it's always been that way I am personally not against it I think we don't have it because we can't afford it  but the downside is if things go wrong
(very rare) they really go wrong...

Nuclear plants don't even work on paper. The design was flawed before it was built.  ::)

GE Built Nuclear Reactors Failing At Fukishima- GE Nuclear Crisis
http://freedomist.com/2011/03/11/ge-built-nuclear-reactors-failing-at-fukishima-ge-nuclear-crisis/

General Electric is the supplier of much of the technology behind all of the nuclear power plants that are now in a state of emergency. Last June, in 2010, these GE supplied systems experienced a failure and were scrutinized by Japanese officials with special attention being paid to the back-up cooling systems, which have failed in the aftermath of the mega-quake.

Now look at this, the people in the Gulf area are screwed.   :o

Tokyo Electric to Build US Nuclear Plants: The No BS Info on Japan's Disastrous Nuclear Operators
http://www.truth-out.org/tokyo-electric-build-us-nuclear-plants-the-no-bs-info-japans-disastrous-nuclear-operators68457
The failure of emergency systems at Japan's nuclear plants comes as no surprise to those of us who have worked in the field.

Nuclear plants the world over must be certified for what is called "SQ" or "Seismic Qualification." That is, the owners swear that all components are designed for the maximum conceivable shaking event, be it from an earthquake or an exploding Christmas card from al-Qaeda.

The most inexpensive way to meet your SQ is to lie. The industry does it all the time. The government team I worked with caught them once, in 1988, at the Shoreham plant in New York. Correcting the SQ problem at Shoreham would have cost a cool billion, so engineers were told to change the tests from "failed" to "passed."

The company that put in the false safety report? Stone & Webster, now the nuclear unit of Shaw Construction, which will work with TEPCO to build the Texas plant.

There's more.

Last night, I heard CNN reporters repeat the official line that the tsunami disabled the pumps needed to cool the reactors, implying that water unexpectedly got into the diesel generators that run the pumps.

These safety backup systems are the "EDGs" in nuke-speak: Emergency Diesel Generators. That they didn't work in an emergency is like a fire department telling us they couldn't save a building because "it was on fire."

What dim bulbs designed this system? One of the reactors dancing with death at Fukushima Station 1 was built by Toshiba. Toshiba was also an architect of the emergency diesel system.

I don't think closing all the nuclear power plants is a bad idea at all. There is no such thing as "safe" when is comes to a nuclear disaster. If a coal fired plant went down, what's the worst thing that will happen to you? You can't watch your favorite reality TV show? Human error & greed are going to give us more & more problems.

That we do strange things like take three survivors of Hiroshima and put them on TV after this horrific event. Then ask these extremely gracious people how it feels to have survived both of these events. Man...if that is all you can do to make the news interesting to you...leave now Diane.

This guy was on FSTV the other night, Robert Alvarez. He's been in the nuclear field over 35 years & has a lot of good info on his site. Some of it will really open your eyes.
