73 charger I picked up from a local Maaco. It was an abandoned paint job. I'm totally done with the front end rebuild and wanted to steer it out of the garage. However. when I get the steering coupler connected to the gear box, the mounting tabs for under the dash are a good 2 inches away from the bolts. And likewise when I connect the tabs under the dash the coupling sits a good 2 inches away from the gear box.

Its been 6 months now but I remember when I took this thing out it had those plastic adjusting sleeves extended way past proper and the both broke when I removed it.

Maybe someone else will chime in....Im not sure if a '73 has a collapsible steering shaft, like a '69 does, but thats what happened in my '69.... the steering shaft collapsed, causing it to be short. (Its repairable, but the column has to be totally disassembled to do it.)

Read this , it will better explain what I'm referring to..... http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,43930.0.html
