I have a 1969 Plymouth Satellite that my dad and I are building to be a bit of a drag car, but mostly just for around town fun. Right now it has a 741 2.76 with welded gears so that's definatly not going to cut it! We were planning on putting a 489 3.55 and I was wondering of a good place to buy one and all other parts needed. The car was originally a 318 2bbl 727 car. Also, would a 3.55 be a little bit much? It won't really see too much highway driving but a little here and there, mostly around town. The motor is a 540hp 440 by the way, paired to a 727 with a high stall converter and a shift kit.

Oh, and im not running huge tires. We haven't decided on specific size yet, but the will be performance street tires on 15s, not huge drag slicks.

http://www.doctordiff.com/ is a good place to buy.  Cass is a cool guy and helpful.  Decent prices too.  He does post on here.  I bought a 489 nodular case, true-trac, with 3.73's.  I run it with a 383 and 727(4spd soon) .  The ratio is just right for good low end and decent top end.  My build is more mild than yours, tire size will play a big part.  I am running 255/60/15's.
