Hi buddies...

I'm thinking on install the interlock system on my car once I get all the parts I'm still searching, like undercarpet wiring, reset button and pigtail, and the full buzzer function what sounds when you have key in, lights on and seatbelts unfastened ( Venezuelan Chargers didn't come with any of this ) since I want a true 74. I know some of you guys will think I'm crazy, maybe I am LOL. the fact and question is:

I don't have the way to test the interlock setabelt control unit that I have. Does somebody have had bad experience about this Unit ? damaged ? bad function ?

I know there is a chance that interlock system fails but I think mostly could it be because loosen, dirty or damaged contacts, terminals or sensors... My question is specifically about control unit itself.

Thanks

yep- your crazy!!! lol

ones I have seen are usually burntout and don't work.

I would put in a ing power over ride for the system.

My question is specifically about control unit itself.  pain they where.

if you sat in a seat- the belt has to be engauged to allow the starter relay to turn on- they had lots of problems with it.

the control unit is a real trouble maker.

It has been a long time since I had my '74, but I do remember that I was popping the hood often to reset the unit. That's all I can tell you.

Nacho,
Do you really want to do that to your car? I had a 74 for years and one day it would not start. Turn the key - nothing. Followed the instructions about resetting the unit under the hood. Still nada. Tore the car half apart tracing wiring before I  discovered one of the seat sensors took a dumper and was shorting the system out. Still etched in my mind is the picture of the removed sensor arching gracefully across the yard!!! It was a one year thing that was mandated by the US government and if I remember correctly, rescinded the following year. If you insist on installing it, leave the seat sensors out. It will give the look and sounds you want without the buckle-up hassle.

I'm able to find a NOS sensor just in case
