A student describes how he was able to get out a speeding ticket by whipping out his Android.

The cop cited him for going over 40 mph in a 25 zone, which he was too frazzled to contest at the time. After he had cooled down and parked his car later, he remembered that he had been running the My Tracks app by Google which records your GPS info and speed. Pulling up the data, he found that he hadn't been speeding. When his court date arrived, he plead not guilty, presented his GPS data, and successfully got out of the ticket. Nice!

well with speeding tickets you are guilty until proved innocent (unlike the rest of the law). i'm sure they'll make those devices inadmissible if too many people start getting out of tickets.

I can see it happening, right up until some brighter-than-normal traffic judge asks for proof that the phone was with the ticketed person at the ticketed time in the ticketed car. Be sure to time-stamp the photo of yourself while not speeding.

It has happened here Down Under. Had them on current affairs shows.

I do believe however they will bring in a law to shut the loophole and make that evidence inadmissable (as was mentioned above)
