I googled 1971 Cuda paint chips a while back and found a site that had PPG chips from the 60s up to the mid/late 70s. Just googled it again and  found the site.

http://www.mymopar.com/paintcodes.htm

It gives the name and the paint code along with the chip
I hope the link works since I've never been good at getting them to

Thanks guys....that is what I was looking for.....original color is f 8

Wow.....color choices for 1969 don't seem that great compared to what you could get on a 1970.... :brickwall:

you can also look on the 69 registry site for color charts and actual pics of various color cars.

Maybe not as bright as some 70 colors, but I love a Charger in F8!

Thanks guys,,,,
Car is a 69 RT/SE 4 speed car.  Originally a triple green, stripe delte car.
It has been triple black ever since i bought it 18 years ago.....

Car needs a new paint job,,,,

I am not hung up on having it the original color,,,and would even consider F8,,,,

Never realized it would be so "difficult" for me to decide on a color,,,,,,

Cant beat a triple black Charger,,,,but thinking a different color would make it seem like a "new" car for me.....

we'll see,,,, thanks for all the comments...

Doug.

Yeah, it's a tough call for sure.  I think sometimes that is what makes the factory color an easier decision for some.  As much as I love F8, triple black is right up there too.  I just really like F8 and it happened to be your factory color, but that doesn't matter to me.  I do know what you mean, that it would seem like a new car, going a different color though.  Mine is silver, I have not had it too long and I really like it.  I will probably repaint the silver at some point, just because it needs more metallic.  My problem is, even switching shades of silver, then I have to live with masking off the jambs, trunk, eng. compartment, underbody and it being slightly off or invest the time stripping the whole car.  Depending on budget, black would cost you less, unless you repaint those areas too.

Bigblck,,,,any pics of your car in silver ?
Is it A4

Silver is in the running for me,, have always liked it....

Thanks for the post.

Here's a pic of mine, it is a platinum silver, but looks like glossy gray to me most of the time.  I have had it in the sun of course, washed it, etc.. and the metallic never pops.  Then, the last time I bought gas in the fall, just at sunset, I was shocked at how silver the car looked and the glimmering metallic showing.  The previous owner painted it himself, single stage.  I will probably go base coat - clear coat.  I have also posted links to 3 other builds on the forum (I hope they don't mind).  All of which are excellent builds and have awesome silver paint.  I will probably test the color that is on mine, but in a two stage, then decide if any of these are close enough to change shades.

member - GTXtreme - new Challenger's silver  (IMO it looks better on his GTX than it does from the factory, on a Challenger)

Hi Doug, did you look here yet? Quite a few pictures....

My 69 was also a triple green stripe delete car and I changed it to black too. Been about 10 years now, and I'm kinda tired of the black too. If I could go back I'd have done it in the correct F5 green. Personally, I also like F6, T5, Q5, and of course B5 never looks bad either, if you're not worried about originality. Do you plan on keeping the black top and 'glass hood?

69 OUR/TEA

I will/would never get sick of a black charger, but my next choices are T5 white top, white stripe :drool5:,and F5 trip green with white stripe  :drool5:!!!!

Hey Ron,,,,,how goes the great white north,,,, ? sunny and 60* yesterday,,,,you have to come for another visit,,,and get out of that snow.

BibBlck,,,thanks for the pics,,,,,  (who are the guys in the background with the helmets ? ),, lol  nice car .....  :2thumbs:

Rich....how are ya..... I changed the rear stripe a year ago,,,and went to a matte black,,,really like it,,,,
Have owned the car for over 18 years,,,never painted the car,,,Not sure what i want to do with it,,,,,the black is very cool,,,
Trying to find a color that grabs me like the black does,,,,,
I like B5 ( with a white int and top and white stripe ),,, but it's not as tuff looking as the black.
I like the A4 as well.........
I will likely keep the vinyl top,,,,,up in the air on the glass/organisol hood,,,I have a M1 intake and a spacer,,,so i needed the hood clearance in the past.....
If, when i paint the car,,,the motor/trans is coming out,,,and going out for a freshen up...
