I have started to restore a Gilbarco Model 86 pump and was just curious if anyone here has one or has done the same thing.

I've been looking for one down here to restore. When I was in Canada they always seemed to want crazy amounts of money for them. I'm hoping they'll be cheaper here.

This one used to stand watch over my front door until some scumbag stole it.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I bought mine for $500.  I have found that this is a much cheaper hobby than restoring a Charger.  The process is the same for finding parts, etc., but there are fewer parts and therefore cheaper.  I want to do another car, but no money at this time.

I have 4.  2 Tokheims 39s One on each side of my garage door and 1 inside done up like the one in the Dukes of Hazzard "Hoggoco Gasoline" And the Rebel gas.
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

I always wanted to convert one into the end of a keggerator. Have the line hooked up so it comes out the nozzle. all new lines of course. But I'm too cheap to buy one and convert it. maybe some day......

Very nice looking pumps.

Thanks. All those pumps I picked up between $300 and $500 except the Rebel gas, a friend gave me that one. All of them needed repainted and 2 needed globes. Parts were easy to find online as several places make just about every part you will need for resto. The ones outside were just cleaned up and rattle canned. the Hoggoco one was fully restored. When I was at the B J auction this year I couldn't believe what they want for these old pumps and old soda machines, its crazy!  :slap:

Dad and I restored an old gravity feed gas pump.  Damn thing is about 10 feet tall and has a huge glass cylinder on top of it where you pump the gas up from the ground to the cylinder to a desired gallon and then open a valve in the top of the hose and it flows into the car.  We had to restore it an the only thing we were missing was the cast iron handle.  Dad found one and almost had a heart attack at just the price of the handle alone.  Turns out the gravity feed gas pumps pull a pretty penny too.  Whats even better yet is all we need to do is put new packings in the pipes and it would be functional!

My wifes grandpa  used to have a filling station here in town years ago. Every so often he would get new glass globes for those pumps from the gas company.  He would just put them in the attic as the ones on the pumps were still good. When he closed the station and retired  they hauled out lots and lots of globes new in boxes and threw them all away. Think what Grandma could get on ebay with them now!    :-\
