My nephew is the one I got my Charger over 30 years ago. I got it from him because he sold it and joined the army. A few years ago he decided to reinact his youth  :eyes: He joined the Army National Guard and is a diesel mechanic, shortly after that bought a new Challenger. Last year he found out if he did a year in Kuwait he would get some big bucks. Well he decided to do a year then his car would be paid off quick. He has been in since the end of Oct., I haven't heard from him for almost two weeks. He usually calls me at least every week.....he called this morning. He and 3 others were out to pick up a broken down vehicle and it was hid by an IED (roadside bomb) last week. They all made it out of the hospital today and are all okay.  :2thumbs:

Close call, eh? How did the vehicle they were riding in fare?

The70RT

Thanks guys. Bull - It was a wrecker but it was built for to take hits. I guess they drove it away but it is out of commission due to mostly it's cosmetic appearance. Some shrapnel came though but nothing major. They had it almost back in service as of today.

My nephew was in some heated action once or twice over there but was never injured. He's bled more from getting tattoos than from any firefight.

First glad to hear no one died or was maimed.

Sorta related we had a coworker that went back over in the private sector because he could make 35K in 6 months or something like that. The guy was part of a 60 minute special driving a hummer showing them around Iraq.

Sorry to hear he got hit.  Glad he came out intact.  It's scary when you hear something like that even when the family member is okay.

So they're blowing up crap in Kuwait now? Kinda sucks after we saved their asses after Sadman Insane invaded them. Glad your nephew made it through that ordeal.

Actually it was in Bagdad. They left Kuwait and were on their way to pick up a vehicle in Bagdad. They got lucky, my nephew told the driver to slow up because they were coming up to some kind of concret wall on the road and remembered during training that it was a suspect spot for a bomb. They slowed and the perp timed it wrong, then seen the perp on a bridge a ways away then run after he detonated the IED. He stated they were in a no firing zone  ::)
