pulley on the harmonic balancer

I've got a '68 Charger, a roller basket case.  It came with a supposedly rebuilt 440 engine.  The new motor didn't have a balancer installed, nor any of the water pump/housing.  I have determined the proper damper to purchase, and I bought an aftermarket one a few months ago.  I ordered a new water pump and housing, so I went ahead and installed my bottom pulley onto the new damper.  The damper and pulley both have six holes, but no matter how I rotated the pulley against the damper, I could only get five of the six holes to line up.

I thought about just leaving it like that, but it looks crappy, and I'm not sure if that will affect balance or not.  I also thought about slotting the sixth hole, so that I could install all six bolts, at least it would 'look' better, but again, I'm not sure if that would affect balance or not.  I believe the 'rebuild' is basically a stock 440 with a mild cam, if that makes any difference.  What would you do, leave out the sixth bolt, or slot the hole?  Will engine balance be affected?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, that's a common problem. Just slot the pulley & install the 6th bolt....balance will not be affected  :2thumbs:
