My sons 99 Regal , 3.8 SC trans is slipping in 2nd gear. Changed the fluid/ filter just before he drove it 1000 miles to take a new job, ran fine. 145K on the car. Two days after he jot there is started sliping. To drive it now you hold it in low until you are goingfast enough to shift to drive and let off the gas and it seams to skip second. third and OD are fine. Any sugestions? I think it is a 4t65E transmission.

Most likely the 2nd gear clutch is fried. It'll have to come apart to fix.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks for the reply. Was hoping it might have been an external fix...no such luck.

I have found on high miles trans its better to leave them alone and not change the fluid ,
most of the time they dont like the new fluid and they start slipping
