What to use for sealing the cowl??

I'm in the process of replacing the cowl on my 69 Charger due to all the rust problems around the front window channel.  When I demoed the old cowl I noticed that there is some kind of sealant that was used to prevent water from getting behind the dash from inside the cowl area.  It looks like the sealant was put on the inner cowl, the upper cowl was clampled in place then spot welded.  So the question: is there some type of seam sealer that you can weld through!??   Pictures of the remnants of the old sealer are attached.

That's what it looks like to me, I was just wondering if there is some special kind of sealer that you can weld without it lossing its sealing ability (or catching on fire!)  When I peeled the cowl off some of the spot welds were not complete, as if the sealer got in the way of the spot weld contact point.  So I guess Mopar just put sealer where the joints would be then used the pressure of the spot welder to squeeze the metal down enough to try to make the weld.  I think I'm going to experiment a little before I actually install the new cowl.

 have you got a spot welder  or are you going to mig plug it on ?

Been plug welding with a MIG till now.

if your going to use any  type of sealer  while mig plugging , your  going to have to do one tack in the drilled/ punched hole , let it cool the another tack & so on !!  as heat build  ! the sealer will melt / catchfire ! , might be an idea to just run a thin bead at the bottom ! once  weld on  , wipe a little sealer on the edge of the two panels , to fill any gaps !
