Wire Size

Does anyone know what is the standard size wire for under the dash.  The wires that are in the car now has no numbers on them and I need to replace several.

I think different sizes for different circuits. Next size bigger=ok , next size smaller=no no.

underdash are usually 16 and 18. Mostly of them 16

Just ignition and charge related are 14 to 12

Thanks people.  I know this probably sounds dumb and all, but this weekend has been my first time posting on this forum.  I've looked things up many times, but never been part of it.  I must say that this place is awesome.  Ive learned many things, and like to thank all that has been involved.
